  No doubt it will be kept a "secret" who did the work on the new version, just as it was a "secret" who translated the original NWT. Nevertheless since Fred Franz was the only likely candidate who could have attempted a Bible translation at bethel in 1950 his name will forever be associated with the translation.

  In 2013 Geoffrey Jackson is the most prominent member of the organisation with translation experience. So is it a fair inference to draw that among GB members he was likely the most heavily involved in producing the revised NWT? Will the revised edition come to be associated with the name Jackson the same way the name Franz will forever be associated with the original NWT?

  The Society likes to keep the names of its writers and translators a secret because they don't have credentials. I suspect this time was the same. They probably just used the old NWT and translated the new one off that. When the NWT came out when I was a small child, they took a lot of heat from Bible scholars over this.

  Indeed there was a lot of reaction from mainstream churches and scholars to the NWT in 1950. The new version is more likely to be met with a collective, meh.

  Whoever it is remains a coward or terrible at translating, because much of the NWT is awful and bias.

  A fresh set of eyes that has gone over it all and not pulled them up on so much so as to not even change one doctrine.....has to either be cowardly or inept.

  IT's ironic that the NWT was considered the best scholarly bible by JW's and yet in 2013 it isn't . I think many JW's will ponder on the fact that their bible wasn't water tight all those years... their thought may not go further than that, but it will happen. I am sure for some it may be enough to help the wobble. It certainly wont help people to become JW's and it wont help people stay, so in all it is a win for people who want to see the cult stop hurting people.

  It's WT logic

  The scholars point out the NWT not a scholarly translation and chop full of WT add ons mainly the word Jehovah in places it doesn't belong. Like any where in the bible as the word didn't exist until around the 12th century. (which is ironic as they didn't bother to menton any really old bibles in thier new collection as it would prove that fact)

  Then they according to the WT those same scholars say the NWT is the most scholarly translation right after they said it wasn't. Even as the WT admits that they kind in a way didn't do a great job the first time around and it needs a revision.

  Well, I guess it's been watered down again? So much so that the cover has been faded from black to gray. I might go ahead and go tomorrow, suffer through all of the bologna just to get my copy..
  If I do, I will send it to my good buddy "The Snarky Apologist"
  I just don't know if I can tolerate the "mind cleansing" anymore... ugh!

  We all heard rumors about this bible being in the works for a couple of years. I'd be a little concerned if I were Mr. Jackson. [Evidently] Jehovah has allowed some leven into the inner chambers..
