If they really wanted to be honest, they should admit that lies were told. What they did to the guy who showed the DNA evidence against the BOM is a perfect example.

The Mormon "admission" sounded like it was designed to take the attention away from the female protesters. It meant essentially nothing, the way I read it.
Kind of like WT leaders saying, that in the past, some over-zealous ones misspoke, or that they have made mistakes in the past, but you still have to keep believing it's all straightened out by now or be shunned.

sherrie11 is correct, Splane did in fact admit that the Society made at least one mistake. In fact he was emphatic, saying, "We must be honest. We must be humble," before admitting that the Society had sometimes misused a certain scripture because the wording was ambiguous. Dang, I can't remember which verse it was now.

Splane really wanted to say "Everyone makes a mistake, as the hedge-hog said as he stepped off the hairbrush", but he was told that a real funny should never pass the lips of a GB member.

Really? That guy must have a huge set of brass balls to say something like that. How could God's mouthpiece do something like that?

Unless the Mormon gets specific it is pretty meaningless.
The GB also make comments like, "we're not perfect, we make mistakes". But unless they allow others to hold opinions different than theirs without being ostracised then it is empty words.
