What Will Be the Penalty For Using the Old New World Translation?

So who here wants to run an experiment?

If you still attend the meetings, are you willing to cling to the "old" New world translation?

Keep using it in front of all of the rest of the cultists. Read from it when called upon to answer.

Continue to go door to door with it in hand.

What will be the penalty? A meeting in the back room with two "el-duhs" who will advise you to keep up with God's Organization"

A "marking talk" for your Brazen conduct?

    Private reproof?

DFing if you continue to insist on its usage in FS and with the "friends" because it uses language that is more accurate and robust, though outdated?

We all know how heavy handed the WTS can be when it comes to UNITY, ahem, UNIFORMITY. What do you think will happen if you continue to use the old New world translation?

My money is on "five yards and loss of down".

Seriously, though, I don't think it will ever raise an eyebrow.

The punishment for using the old NWT?

The same as for using the New NWT!

    IGNORANCE.

    Suraj,

It will raise more than an eyebrow, more like the ire of the entire BOE. These tools are bent on uniformity at the cost of individualism in all cases. They have already stated that starting with the Jan WT all articles will quote the NEW NWT, so that is the deadline. Keep using the old one after that and you are sure to suffer at least an upturned elderette's nose!

That is why I'm looking for a few brave JWN members to test the waters...any takers?

Probably initially it will be a a private word after the meeting with an elder. It may take a few years to phase it out. Perhaps in a few years the penalty might be stronger.

It will take a few years, ( maybe less ) then you will be looked at the same as if you came to the meeting with a NIV bible. How would that go over ?

I have to say, at least they made it a nice gray, and not orange, or bright green like when the old NWT first came out.

The elders may look at it as rebelliousness but the agm did say to hold on to your old nwt and use it for reference.

There might be some suggestion that comments at meetings should quote the new version from January onwards. Other than that, it's unlikely to get any attention from the elders. Probably will get the disapproval of the 'elderettes' though. Which is probably a worse fate anyway.

Most likely there will be an article in the WT before long referring to people who do not 'move with the organisation' as 'mentally degenerate' or something. Then the shunning mechanisms will automatically kick in.
