In a way, my own mother. Thought still a loyal die-hard JW, during our weekly Bible reading as children she taught us to think critically and to ask questions as we read the week's allotted Bible chapters. Sometimes mum expressed certain doubts or thoughts that made us realise at a very young age that every man, even the Watchtower's leadership, could sometimes be wrong. So ironic but thanks mum.

I had been df'd for smoking a cigar w/ my grandpa. After I crawled back to the group that was "closest to the truth", I started to wake up. I remember I googled jw and found this website. I was very nervous even though I was at work. I kept reading about some guy Franz and seeing "CoC" and had no idea what that meant. As I finally figured it out and then ordered it online and got it delivered to my house, little did I realize what a difference that book would make in my life. I think I read CoC in three days and In Search of Christian Freedom in about 7 or 8 days. No animosity, no hatred, Mr Franz just laid out his honest, humble take on what his experience was. Mr Franz kicked me in the teeth with his courage and kindness. I specifically remember the night of my paradigm shift. It was an awesome experience for me.

I know that Mr Franz would play it down but I cannot put into words what I feel that I owe him. Not just for me but for the freedom of my two daughters.

    Thank you Ray.

My family will never forget you.

One of the first times that I can remember is when, I think it might have even been this site, was stopped temporarily from being a pro Jw site to just a page

with some explanation that they were shutting down and some links to some apostate sites.

I remember reading that page and wondering, What the heck is going on here? I look back now and wonder if that instance was when, I have heard and am not sure about how this all went down, Simon was originally running this site as a Pro Jw site, got hit with some apostate drive bys and possibly was told by the brothers to shut down the site, put up the temp page, then it looks like after I saw that, re-branded this site to be more open minded, if you will.

Does any of this ring a bell or was that a totally different site?

My turnaround was a watchtower about the new song book. CTR went into a church because he liked the songs and then he regained his faith...

I was actually shocked to read that since "babylon the great" lead him to regain faith...

I first got involved with apostasy in September 2004.

I GOOGLED "Jehovah's Witnesses" looking for answers to some doubts I had about the faithful slave and found this website.

I read a couple of threads that had comments posted by a member named minimus.

That was the first time I had ever read anything written by an apostate but it wasn't the last time.

Thank you for posting all that apostate reasoning, minimus.

My first experience with apostasy was more than 40 years ago when I was born into an apostate, supremacist, doomsday religious cult - one of the many daughters of the one known in scripture as "the mother of the harlots" (apostates) namely Babylon the Great.

My last experience with apostasy (harlotry) was when I walked out mid-2009.

I listened to a local radio(Radio London 94.9) programme on cults and sects probably early 1993( already inactive and ceased meeting attendance), the programme had a guest from a London University and I dont believe the WTS was being spoken about, I think it may have tied in with the WACO seige, the Moonies were mentioned and the presenter mentioned that if any listeners had concerens about cults and sects that a number will be avialiable to call at the end of the show, naturally I called it and the rest they say is history.

Very very first was back in mid 80's people would stand outside convention site with signs that had a 800 phone number to call..it was "answers for JW's" a weekly recorded message. I called every week for a long time. Was out for about 10 years. But I allowed myself to get reindoctrinated and went back! Stupid move. What broke my mind control and got me here and reading coc and isocf and other books was a bout with tremendous grief over family death. Now I'm free for life.
