Integ - AFAIK it's when someone wants to read the post again at a future time and doesn't want to lose it, so by commenting on the thread it will then show up in their list of 'threads commented on' . Bookmarking .

Generally people put "marking" on a thread so it shows up on their list of topics posted to so that they can find it easier for later reference.
Maybe they don't currently have time to view the whole thread or a video or such.
So they can come back at a later time to look over the whole thing at their convenience that way.
Oh and BTW I really enjoyed the cartoon.
Hope whoever is responsible for making it does many more in the future. :) -
