    Shirley,

I'm sorry... I would have looked at others nearby and motioned towards him (so they could see what he was doing) before I caused the scene by screaming...

"SOMEBODY CALL A DOCTOR!!!! I THINK SOMETHING'S WRONG WITH THIS GUY!!!!"

Betcha he would have moved THEN!

Talk about maturity. Now that story's hilarious.

Gorb: I would have been a little loud about my response to the back of her head. *giggling*

Hi Gorby, I know exactly what you mean... I often get in the same situation though some would not even talk to me or ignore me since they probably see me as the betrayer of my family. O well... let them ;)

If you hate the thing they love most,.. how can you be friends?

I have friends who hate Pink Floyd, the thing I love the most. I don't care if they are wrong, I overlook their stupidity on this one issue.

I am sure if that if these people wanted to, they could look past the fact that gorby knows the organisation they love is a manipulative, dishonest, mind controlling cult, and still be friends.

Gorby, sorry to tell you they are not nice and never have been, its all a thin veneer. I had it before I was Df'd in the hall the exact same greeting. There is a Brother and Sister Thin Veneer in every KH. Usually the CoBE and wife.

They walk past as they greet you with no genuine interest what so ever. I used to chase after them, and stop them. Chit chat for ages how I was, not really giving a flying smurf that they weren't interested. The BOrg is full of these folk.

Well at least they asked how you were. A jw friend of mine told me that he received a call. Now he has missed several meetings. The secretary called and did not ask how are you or missed you, but only asked for his field service report. He was upset over this request by the secretary. They can be very cold.

I guess that people are just people. There are some that are genuine, but too many have the Pharasaic attitude "Go in peace, keep warm and well fed" while sweeping by you. It is not only those on the way out. I have heard and experienced the same at the K/Hall if you are not one of the "in crowd"

It would not matter but they make such claims of the warmth and exceptional love marking "God's true people" - it is just not that way in practice. I blame the emphasis that the WTS places on "the ministry" above all else. The Christian virtues run a poor second in importance when counting your worth as a dub

I don't have all the necessary inside information about the local dubs, to know exactly my status, or what they say about me. We have "friends" at 3 local KH's, but since we never actually became JW's, I don't know what my actual label would be...

I can tell you though, they seem to "know" something about me. I think it is funny, the way they avoid you in stores, and pretend not to see you.

In the past couple of months, I seem to be running into them more frequently, and I personally LOVE the wide-eyed looks I get when I say hello to a JW. They look like deer, caught in headlights... Like I have actual horns growing out of my head.

My young children are usually with me, so we have made it into a bit of a game. I say, "Oh look, there is one of our JW friends! I wonder if they will pretend we are invisible!" My daughter (age 7) has become particularly curious about the way they act. People that appear normal, suddenly turn into scared bunny rabbits, darting down the grocery store aisle. They certainly are not examples of Christ-like love... even a child can see that difference.

As the light gets brighter, the JW people are scurrying into the shadows like cockroaches. It is sad and scary to watch, really. But we do love our game of JW-seek and find! They are everywhere around here.

The same man who followed my husband into the bathroom, when he was sick during a meeting... is now afraid to say hello in a grocery story. Strange people, they are. He had no qualms about confronting someone for having digestive issues on a Sunday morning.

That sounded heartless. I don't mean to mock. I try to be kind, regardless of the response I get in return.
