Crofton wins key role on Jehovah's Witnesses campus

    6 May 2015 | By Yoosof Farah

Engineer lands role on scheme that will predominantly be designed and constructed by volunteers

Consulting engineer Crofton has won a key role on the development of a new headquarters and campus for the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Crofton has been picked to provide all the mechanical, electrical and public health works on the 120,000 m2 development planned for a site near Chelmsford in Essex.

The bulk of the design and construction work is being undertaken by Jehovah’s Witnesses volunteers. Work will start on-site this year and is set to be completed in 2019.

The scheme includes 550 residential units, 30,000m2 of office space, a printing press, maintenance workshops, a fitness centre, an energy centre to support the site’s infrastructure, and gardens and walkways.

Crofton managing director Steven Hale said: “Normally the MEP engineer would produce the design drawings for building services, and the contractor would use these to produce installation drawings. However, there isn’t a contractor for many of the packages on this project because volunteers are undertaking the majority of the MEP installation.

“Therefore Crofton’s appointment includes the responsibility of producing installation drawings. This is testament to our investment in BIM over the last three years, which has enabled us to develop the skills and demonstrate that we have the skills necessary to fulfil this role.

“Everybody at Crofton is proud to be working on this major project and looks forward to being involved with it over the coming years.”

Temple Farm will house Jehovah’s Witnesses’ publications such as The Watchtower.

It's a big project but definitely not worth the amount of money grabbing from the collection of congregation bank accounts and the sale of many KH's, Circuit Assembly Halls, and the Brooklyn properties. Add to that the scam of forgiving loans but not forgetting a monthly contribution of equal or higher amount than the loan used to be. The letting go of so many older bethelites, CO's over 70 and all the DO's, whose medical insurance they no longer are responsible for.

This is a pricey project but there's way too much money left over in the bag, so they're planning for more. But more of what?

I expect there'll be a series of "special talks" where the new building will be revealed to be there to be used as a headquarters / distribution centre after armageddon. It'll probably include extra large perches for the vultures..

"extra large perches for the vultures" but not financed through higher purchase beforehand.

Well one thing is for sure. They aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Also money is not a problem despite what we hope. If you are waiting for the WT to go out of business, you are holding on to a pipe dream.

There will always be people that can be manipulated by guilt and fear. There will always be men looking for a title. There will always be the disenfranchised that need a place to belong. There will always be people of a weaker disposition that need strong leadership from someone else to feel secure. All of these will donate when goaded.

Add to that they have 100's of millions stashed as head-start money. All I am saying is, if any readers are holding on to a fantasy deep down that the WT will go away and thus make the problem disappear, unfortunately for all of us, it won't happen.

    Huh.

I guess relying on uneducated volunteer work just wasn't gonna get it done fast enough...

    Who knew?

What no JW will ask is what happens to all the cash that they receive when they sell Mill Hill Bethel, the Bittacy Hill factory, and all the houses etc they already own around the old site.

A 5 bedroom house in that area goes for over a Million £. Think how many such properties they can put on 22 acres !

With the whole package, it will gross around 3 Billion £, less building costs. I would say that they have already covered the cost of the new place, plus a huge profit. As they are going to get a lot of donations for the new project, before they develop or sell the old Site plus the other buildings, they are going to turn a nice profit.

All this is Tax Free of course. At the expense of the U.K Tax payers.

I know the answer to this, but are they a Religion, or a Property Development Company ?

Are they, or are they not, a HUGE SCAM ?
