Jehovah's Witnesses increase in Britain

I am new to this forum, but I have been lurking for a while. You all seem pretty friendly, I hope you will be nice to me even though I am still a Jehovah's Witness.

I wonder if you all have heard about the new arrangement for putting in field service reports. Now instead of putting the slip into the box at the back of the hall the book study conductor is supposed to collect it at the group. I think that this is a way to boost the number of publishers reporting. I think that it will work in two ways:

1. It means that people will be much more likely to forget, or rather the study conductor will go after them to get it.

2. People will make a special effort to go out because they don't want to turn up at the group and have to admit that they have not been out that month.

Is it working? In Britain it certainly has! In the May Kingdom Ministry the number of publishers for January (the month the scheme was introduced) has jumped up dramatically. Last year in January there was only 118 000 reporting, this year there was 123 000!

Could someone else look in the American Kingdom Ministry to see if the same thing has happened?

Interesting thought, alter the method of collating information and hope for an improvement.

Of course, nothing has actually really improved the time spent in canvassing new recruits, has it!

It's a bit like the police claiming that reported crime figures are down, no-one bothers to report crime because nothing will be done about it!

THE RESULT OF ALL THIS - so we have an organisation that is built up on formalism & legalism...

not an organisation where love of god, and love of neighbour is the motivating force.

showing an increase for the year - measuring results in the way a business measures the result is the goal. and the result is people doing things for the wrong reason.

growth in love for god and neighbour will also result in increase, an increase that i would once have believed to more pleasing to the god they claim to worship.

how can god be pleased when someone reports time, because the study conductoer asked the person for a report.

i argued these points once as an elder, and was told we are dealing with imperfect creatures, so hold my tongue.

i now see that we were dealing with an imperfect organisation!!!!!

Well if the 15 minute publisher and the "Well, bro let me think yes, yes, I think I did , yes, now I do remember I did go out this month, yes just write doen lets see, ummmmh, yes 15 minutes will do." Increases the publishers so be it. anything for the records !!!!HAHAHAHAHA

Looks like they are cranking up the pressure on the publishers.

Instead of silently going lax in their time, they publishers now have to tell their study conductor face to face that they are not out in FS.

This will backfire. There will be a temporary increase, but as the "spiritually week" (Normal people thinking for themselves) start falling away, the numbers being reported will drop.

A few years ago the boys in Brooklyn decided to stop presenting the year end growth % as the result of averaging 12 months but instead to just give the % for the single highest of the 12 months. Did that result in falsifying growth figures? It certainly did! Things are much worse for them even than they look. For the year 2002 due to the Sept 11 tragedy scaring some inactives back to the halls for a little, that'll also make them look better, but still the REAL TRUTH is, growth is stagnant and falling except in Brazil and some of Africa, though those won't hold much longer either. So what do say to that?

Welcome the’, I know how you feel as my parents demanded I be raised a Jehovah’s Witness. But I think you’re missing the point, now that you’re here.

It’s not what corporations products or publications an individual believes to be the correct ones to ‘flog’ that causes a self fulfilling negative reaction during conversation in this regard.

But rather ill-informed or disingenuous expressions one uses in the attempt to justify, why, one follows a self-professed ‘religious’, private American corporation that uses its adherents to suit its own corporate financial desires.

Welcome to our enclave.

Massage therapy may good for the muscles but bad for 'Publisher' figures in the long term.

This feeble attempt at growing 'Publishers' from fifteen minute flowerpots is patently transparent in motive. Even the most loyal JW can see what is happening here, many have described it as 'damage control' and feel that it has all the credibility of a Monty Python 'Silly Walk'.

If the WTS ceased punishing people for honestly speaking their minds and hearts you would find that many, many 'active' JW's are just biding their time waiting for the Governing Body to put away their theological coloring books and grow up.

Think of the WTS own illustration of a falling house being propped up by beams and and superficial restoration - they apply that to the 'System Of Things'.

I suspect that it's application rests much closer to home.
