I think they're trying to shake off the Watchtower...

We had another couple over this weekend. After taking a reasonable hike in the woods, we came back to the house, made a fire and began to talk a bit. These folks are long time friends of ours and are (like us) slowly easing out of the Kingdom Hall. They live an hour from us and we don't ever talk specific 'apostate' stuff - we all still struggle with the crazy JW distrust....dancing around topics specific to the 'truth'.

An interesting thought was raised by the hubby. He says that the Org. seems to be distancing itself from it's Watchtower past - erasing C.T. Russell from the Faithful Slave 'class', putting up banners on the buildings in New York with JW.org (instead of Watchtower), encouraging the use of pads and tablets at the meetings, the new brochure campaign where the placements will be counted, etc.

Are these 'changes' being put in motion to ease into the eventual end of magazine publication? Will the printeries change to brochures and leaflets exclusively? Is the kiosk and cart program in place to just direct interested ones to JW.org? Is the history associated with the WTB&T Society and it's early publications too damaging for the 21st century Org?

Their history is so damaging, that if a JW decided to promote old literature, he/she would be disfellowshipped for apostasy.
THAT's how damning their past is... which by the way PROVES that they were not worthy to be chosen by Christ in 1919...

I think youre up to something that many of us is speculating in. Of course they want to "take distance" to everything that has happened within the org. Look at wath "Gorby" said on this thread:

More info on whats happening is interesting. Is the GB divided and has to manage another big scandal, by making two different org.?

    paper magazines will stay.

The internetsite JW.ORG is just an answer to our ever changing world. However in poor countries and developing nations people dont have computers, tablets, printers and high speed internet connections.

paper magazines may stay but they will be printed by congregations off the internet for personal and placement copies putting the cost on the congregation/circuit.

Production of paper periodicals and books is a dying industry.

There are cynical/intelligent folks at the WTS who realize this.

Their new business model will be real estate.

They are in a period of transition now.

They have in the past been proud of the long publishing time of the Watchtower magazine, since 1879. And so the Title has remained.

But as they seem to be re-branding I can see the Title going, and it simply being the "JW.org Magazine".

Oh yes! There are noticeable ulterior motives to the changes. But it's all scriptural. Jehovah's chariot in Ezekiel and all that.

    JW.org Magazine

    LOL!

Maybe it will be like "O" magazine. It will have a picture of a different GB member on the cover each month.
