Magazines too expensive and the WTS had found that it is easier for jws to go door to door and hand out tracts. It makes sense that they would start counting tracts, update the time slip, and phase out magazines for the public (one edition each of WT and Awake, and only 16 pages)

It will make for an impressive-sounding number that they can trumpet in the Yearbook.

Left unsaid will be the fact that 490 million of those "pieces of literature" will be one page tracts. And that "Bibles distributed" (to non-JWs anyway) will likely be counted in the mere thousands.

I see this as an improvement for those who are fading. Now you can easily get placements by running up to a door and stuffing a tract in. No talking required for placements anymore.

Seems they will drop the 'public' Watchtower (nobody reads it anyway of non-JWs, probably not even most JWs) and just use the Awakes for RVs and door-step Bible studies.
