  Thanks cofty. Another light bulb moment. That's what the Platoism and essentialism was about in Ch 2. Dawkins is paranoid superstitious people are taking over the world.

  Seriously, my daughter and her boyfriend are here visiting. They both work hard in full time jobs. They are concerned about rising car insurance, stagnent wages and affordable housing. Their generation are dealing with hard economic circumstances. How well they are educated in evolution is of no concern. Dawkin's is British and more concerned about how evolution is taught in schools and should be regarded a priority.

  At least Einstein had an active role in certain issues that plagued society. He campaiged for nuclear disarmament, he was a member of the UN and he even got offered the post of Prime Minister of Israel.

  That's a good point too. But as I only just posted, I still think Dawkin's is paranoid about superstitous people, and putting Platoism in the chapter was a motive of his to highlight empty philisophies and how dangerous they are.

  In chemistry, we have to unlearn things in a similar way, it's not big deal everyone gets it. They don't struggle with essentialism, or Platoism. Why would anyone struggle in biology?

  Not everyone is used to working in a science discipline and Dawkins is addressing people who have very little if any undertsanding of science. Remember many religious people believe that animals will always reproduce "according their kind" so an explanation of essentialism / platoism may help them to step out of the confines of their existing paradigm.

  Ok that is a fair point, but like I said to cofty, Religious nuts are not taking over the world. There is more wrong with the education system in the UK than the teaching of evolution. And there is more wrong with the infastructure in the UK as a whole. But I am trolling my own OP now. Having a stressful day. Sorry guys.

  The reason I commented about you and that other interminable thread was that I identified you views here on this post. I’m also basing my comments and a return to that old thread based on what Qcmbr said in his post 3205 and 3207. It’s just like something I said to you about a year ago. snare&racket (Post 1932) reiterated the issue here that I presented to you then. My ultimate conclusion was that your certainty about God (or something that speaks to you) is purely contained in your head and cannot be substantiated by any means possible to others. Even if others express the same thing to you that you feel, that other person’s feelings cannot be confirmed outside of his or her mind. You would have to simply trust him or her. My main point is that this is indistinguishable from illusion.
