How exactly does RF ger around that evidence? He can't claim all the tablets have been tampered with. Rather confused as to how he feels he can argue against it.

possible, have you ever chatted with an ignorant person who couched his language to hide that fact? Furuli has an agenda. He can fool the simple with obfuscation. He also provides the Watchtower with quotes that cast doubt on sincere scholars.

    Thank you, Comatose.

Going through much of VAT 4956 in the video appendixes wore me out. Eventually, I need to get back to finish this series.

He either attempts to re-date astronomical data on key tablets to fit with his preferred years or undermines tablets' chronological usefulness by either finding fault with the data or disputing the interpretation of the cuneiform signs. He also tries to make a case for the existence of dozens of anomalous business tablets that call into question the conventional chronology because of the way they are dated (nearly all of them are actually printing errors in academic sources or early reading errors that have long been corrected). He suggests there are holes and inconsistencies in various nations' kings' time-lines, as well as possible 'unknown' kings lurking about somewhere undiscovered. Oh, and as jgnat said, he obfuscates a lot.

Have you read the two public edition WT articles on 'When Was Ancient Jerusalem Destroyed?' from 2011? The second article (November issue) in particular is a brief showcase of F's methods and arguments.

And 7 million zombies read those articles and marveled at the spiritual food they get fed and believed every word of that "expert".

I attempted to give those 2011 articles a read but none of it really made any sense to me, so I just went and read CO Jonnson's refutations which were a lot more clear.

I need to stop reading Yahoo answers, some of the JW answers on there about this subject are so wrong it's absolutely enfuriating.

Also did the WT count back 70 jewish years to get back to 607? Surely the difference between jewish and modern years would make a difference?

This is such an arcane area of study that it strikes me that Furuli, in his determination to bolster the W.T's tortured explanations of scripture, has taken a lot of liberties with what the evidence suggests. To cast doubt upon countless business records that identify the time and the reigning king is strange.

I think if any other academic with the expertise were to examine his evidence/conjectures they would find problems. The difficulty is that he does an Ad Homnem attack upon Jonsonn, and ignores other papers that cast doubt on his views.

Is he not in danger of being a laughingstock in the Academic community ?

He still takes the position that a 70 year exile is proven, surely that has been blown out of the water a long time ago ?
