Okla. Stat. Ann. Tit. 10A, § 1-2-101 (LexisNexis through 2012 1st Reg. Sess.)
Every person having reason to believe that a child under age 18 is a victim of abuse or neglect shall report the matter promptly to the Department of Human Services.
No privilege or contract shall relieve any person from the requirement of reporting pursuant to this section.
Good for Oklahoma!
But after the interview in which Lawrence denied the majority of allegations facing him, he called a McAlester detective, the document states, to say he had confessed to the Kingdom Hall in 2005 that the claims of abuse were true in order to be reinstated into it...."They shouldn't have [happened]," Lawrence told detectives during a recorded interview. "I'm sure and [it] may have been on purpose, I touched her."
Typical sociopathic pedo minimalization and only confessing to avoid consequences.
So this guy is in good standing right now? Doesn't the bible say you have to make amends to those you hurt? What did he do?

The Jehovah Witness website features interviews with key people in which they state,
"The policy that Jehovah's Witnesses have on how to handle cases of child molestation is without equal in the religious community ."
The original comments are found in the posted transcript, the video has since been changed to stay what it does now.

J R Brown: We've heard the suggestion that our policies may not be adequate to cover the problem of child molestation. But that's not the case at all. The fact of the matter is we have a very aggressive policy
(those 2 words spoken with emphasis - but the clickable link for the words *aggressive policy* did not seem to provide a *policy* as such) to handle child molestation in the congregations.
And it is primarily designed to protect our children. And then it also is in compliance with the laws of the land, or the state, so that there is not a conflict.
Dr Infante: I think that's a very good policy, umm, that the er, elders er, you know, essentially would take charge of the situation of reporting the abuse to the authorities if there is no, you know adult, in auth(ority), any other adult in authority to do that, to protect the child.
Mr Sinclair: If we didn't have a policy, it might be confusing to some who have never dealt with things like that before, like I had never dealt with it before. You are not sure where to turn for help.
But when you know that there is a policy in place - that you can go and get the help that's needed - that is very comforting. And then, within the congregation, through the arrangement of the congregation, you can provide the spiritual help and the encouragement to get over the difficulties that the individuals have faced in their childhood.
Mr Brumley: There are instances when a situation that should have been reported is not.
Or where care should have been extended and it was not. But to say that the policy is not followed perfectly is a far cry from saying that there exists a policy to affirmatively minimize, or hide this problem.
The policy that Jehovah's Witnesses have on how to handle cases of child molestation is without equal in the religious community.*
Having watched the footage through several times, there are some interesting body language features I thought, but also a most striking statement and *recovery/correction* by Dr Infante I felt which rather threw doubt on the statement made by this lady.

" If [Watchtower] officials...withold that information from authorities, they too could be prosecuted."
If counsel was given to the congregation elders to NOT contact the police, and such counsel originated from New York, would this classify as a federal crime [?]
and would the FBI have to become involved as the crime crossed state lines ?
Better in prison than in congregation! Probably, brother Ronald will have boyfriends in jail.

Attorney in sex assault case says case it too old By Jeanne LeFlore Staff Writer

McALESTER —
An attorney has filed a motion to dismiss charges against a McAlester church elder accused of molesting three children more than 30 years ago. On Monday, attorney Warren Gotcher filed a motion to dismiss the charges against Ronald H. Lawrence, 76, citing a statute of limitations expiration.
The charges allege attacks occurred between 1977 and 1982.
Monday’s motion states the statute of limitations in the case expired in 1987 or earlier.
In November, Lawrence, an elder in the McAlester Jehovah Witness Church, was charged in Pittsburg County District Court with 19 felony counts, including 11 of lewd molestation, seven of forcible sodomy and one count of rape by instrumentation. The alleged victims in the cases were two preteen girls and one 5-year-old boy at the time .
Lawrence was arrested by McAlester police after three people alleged this year they had been molested some 30 years ago, according to McAlester police officer Chris Morris.
An affidavit filed in the case alleges one female was molested from the time she was 8 until she was 13 years old. A second female alleged she was molested by Lawrence between the ages of 10 and 13, and a male alleged he was molested at the age of 5.
According to a court affidavit, one of the alleged victims reported Lawrence molested her in a janitor’s closet at the First National Bank in McAlester where Lawrence was employed.
“The incidents occurred at his home, in the swimming pool at his home, at the lake and in the janitors closet at First National Bank,” the affidavit alleges.
On Friday, District 18 District Attorney Farley Ward said his office has researched the statute of limitations.
“Before we filed the charges we researched this and we found that we are within the statute of limitations,” he told the News-Capital.
A hearing on the motion is set for Jan. 30 at 2:30 p.m. Lawrence was released from jail Nov. 24 after posting a $50,000 bond. As a condition of his bond, he is not to have contact with the alleged victims in the case.
If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.
No one answered several calls to the Jehovah Witness Church and Lawrence could not be reached for comment.

crap, isn't this the guy who ADMITTED tot he elders to some of these abuses in order to get reinstated with " repentance"?
BTTT, Peace out, Mr. Flipper
This alleged pedophile's son killed himself about the time these abuses are alleged to have happened. Makes a person question as to why he took his own life at such a young age.
Most do not know it, but the local McAlester Oklahoma elder (NASA Engineer) that has been glorified in the WT is refusing to cooperate with the police. The police are wanting answers in regards to this case that he knows, but he is not talking. I post that man's name and previous WT article of his biography but it must have been removed. I listed his phone number because it is also listed as JW Kingdom Hall contact phone number. I redacted his son's phone number although it was not an unlisted number. I will not mention that elder in this post as some adminstrator must not want it known..... If I am mistaken about it being deleted, or what can or can not be posted, please advise me.
"the local McAlester Oklahoma elder (NASA Engineer) that has been glorified in the WT is refusing to cooperate with the police."
Nothing wrong with that. I'd consider him a very smart man. You NEVER under any cirumstances talk to police for any reason. All that you can do is screw yourself over. There is a classic video on the subject here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wXkI4t7nuc
The 76 year man mentioned in the articles has already dug himself into a pit because he opened his mouth, whereas if he had stayed quiet then I doubt there would have been much of a case against him.
But as it is, I do know exactly what he denied and what he addmited too. For all we know he could have admited to having a kid sit on his lap. Initial complaints will often fluff themselves up with stupid little extra claims like that, just as padding and a way to get a foot in the judicial door. So I'll hold my judgment until farther into the legal proceedings, when the Defense has a chance to present its side.
All apologies for being neutral and realistic.
