The Governing Body Have Stabbed Many Old Bethelites In The Back By Not Taking Care Of Them In Their Old Age

Many JW monetary donations went to Bethel in order to provide for ALL who served there, because many JW's although they would have loved to serve at Bethel simply couldn't. To kick out old Bethelites and downsize to save money to pay out to fight & settle pedophile lawsuits, build a new headquarters and still be sitting on a billion dollar hedgefund is dispicable.

I always assumed that when you leave bethel for medical reasons- they gave you some sort of landing pad. After 8 years, my wife became pregnant and we left bethel. Here is what we got:

    - a letter stating that we HAD medical insurance, but that it is no longer active, and there is no COBRA provision

    - a "reference letter" - the most dry, non committal letter you ever read- basically stating that you breathed and lived there for 8 years and didnt burn the place down (that they know of)

    - some recommendations on how to apply for public assistance.

Thats it! Imagine if we werent young and full of energy. I shudder to think.

While at bethel a friend of mine was in a serious car accident and wound up in a coma. Within a few days, he was "dismissed" from Bethel so that there was no liability for the medical costs- and the state had to pay. I remember they had lawyers to make sure the medicare/medicade agencies couldnt come back after the Watchtower corporations.

The WTS is a "beast," You must scratch its back fervently, constantly. If you slow down, it turns on you.

I guess the Governing Body would like to forget this scripture when it comes to taking care of those that gave the Corporation so much of thier time and energy:

James 2 15-17 New International Version (NIV)

15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

The Almighty Dollar gets more worship than Jehovah from the Watchtower Corporation! Making Bethel a career choice is very bad for ones future. It's a wounder that they can still gets replacement volunteers.

If this does not erase romantic notions loyal JWs have about serving in Bethel, nothing will. How can any observant Witness - particularly those who live closer to Bethel and branch offices - harbor any idealistic beliefs about what is involved in this kind of service?

So it sounds to me that this might be one of those useful 'moral' issues that would me more helpful in discussions with those we love who are still in? I realize, especially with women that discussing doctrinal slip ups is probably the wrong route to go. How best to bring it up? In the form of a question of course but what about source? Need some thread references to those from bethel being reassigned to local congegrations from recent WT material. I think my wife might be able to connect the dots on this one...

A Greek Jehovah's Witness named Nikos Grifsias and friend of mine served faithfully in the Greek Bethel for more than 30 years (1983-2013).In 2008 he contracted hepatitis due to a surgery complication he had. After and because of that he started having psychological problems and he would have breakdowns and feats of rages while he was in Bethel and they kicked him out last April. Now he is divorced and at the age of 58 he can't get a job and only some JW's who spare him little money. He's lucky because he owns a house or he wouldn't have anywhere to go.He gets some money to live from and old rocker friend (he himself was an old school rocker and hippie too) other than him no one else provides for the food of the day.Now the WTS doesn't give him money and no pension or how you call it at all.Now he doesn't know what to do.What's going to happen? If you put yourself in his position you'll realise he's in deepshit. If any of you don't believe me you can contact the Greek Bethel or a few Greek JWs and find out.
