The WTS/JWS failed in its attempt to contradict the cross, there was too much information that supported the cross.

Just another attempt to demean Christendom portrayed as being false .

I have to admit though that perhaps they did get the not bowing down to graven images right as stated in the bible.

Thats religion folks, you lose some you win some.

FW: The JW's get hung up on these details, and overlook the big picture. They miss the whole message of redemption and salvation.

Well, in fairness, the problem starts with the orthodox churches. If one took the position that The Searcher takes, the cross would not occupy the sanctified position that it does in orthodox Christian ideology.

I debated with a hard-core JW one time that the instrument of death for Jesus made no difference in my faith. His reply was that it was of vital importance because one must worship "in Spirit and in truth". I said, "That's cool. Then please point me to a date in which everything printed in the Watchtower was and will remain true." ***Crickets

Thank you Searcher for stating that. I agree.

As to when the WTBTS started the stake thing. In the 1930s it was done to show that they were different from the rest, implying that they were correct.
