I was noticing in the Photodrama of Creation that "Nearer, My God, to Thee", a song that Russel included in the Photodrama, is sung in the LDS.

Also, "How firm a foundation", also included in the Photodrama, is included in LDS songbooks.

I am curious if the other Photodrama songs are also still sung/used by LDS now.

Gotta admit, the first chorus (Youtube video) is nice... I like it...

Another song that Mormons sing ( along with a multitude of other faiths ) is " Jehovah is He " a very catchy tune .

They are just historical Christian hymns.

Yes, they are just as Perry said. The important thing is who wrote the song. Many others can cover it.

    Most covered Christmas song?

They also share calling their own high-control, mind-control Cult "The Truth".

They can't both be right, but both can be, and are, wrong.

"Nearer, My God, to Thee" is a 19th-century Christian hymn by Sarah Flower Adams, based loosely on Genesis 28:11–19, [1] the story of Jacob's dream. Genesis 28:11–12 can be translated as follows: "So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep. Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it..."

The hymn is well known, among other uses, as the alleged last song the band on RMS Titanic played before the ship sank.

How Firm a Foundation Text: Attr. to Robert Keen, ca. 1787. Included in the first LDS hymnbook, 1835. Music: Attr. to J. Ellis, ca. 1889

Oh and how could I forget!

    Photodrama includes "Silent Night!"

I DO recognize that these are historical Christian Hymns, but how many JW's would be shocked that these were actually used in our songbooks/meetings?
