Two years ago I had to conduct meeting for field service on Christmas for the first time. I recall a feeling in my gut that I could not ignore that this was wrong. I think it was one of the small things that got me to ask myself: "what the hell are we doing?". When you knock on someones dooor when you see them with their families having a good time, one would have to be a total tool for not having doubts about that. A few months later, I quit the cultish sect cold turkey several months later for a variety of other reasons, but this experience is one of many that left me with a sour taste in my mouth. I only wish I had the balls to tell the local elders where to stick their dumb guilt offering of a service day.
Christmas Field Service

10am field service group from hall on christmas morning door to door. No I will not be going out on that day or boxing day or new years day. Two elders are very vocal about going out and are then very vocal/nasty verbally to those that do not. They are just bullys and nasty!

I hated going out on Xmas day & only went out a couple of times when I was service overseer & the PO said that I had to "lead the group."
There was usually just a token turnout of a few die hard JWs & a couple of lonely single witnesses. It was the classic "do a quick 45 minutes show your face operation" and get home as soon as possible. Nobody ever took their kids out in my congregation on Xmas day for obvious reasons. I remember one householder being really angry at me & it did kind of shake me up a bit - it just seemed to be pointlessly annoying people.
I thought it had been pretty much disbanded in recent years - certainly the JWs that I know in my extended family never go out at this time now.

I remember going out on Christmas day when I was a kid. I may have been proud of myself at the time, but then again, I was just a kid. And working the streets where there were lots of kids, including those from school ensured that Christmas Day and eventually any holiday witnessing became a no-go.

Yea I always was hesitant to go out on holidays...even though I have been inactive for 2 and a half years I know of one super mentally unbalanced family in the congo I'm supposed to attend that will for sure be out and think any in the hall that don't go out are trash...most hateful bunch of people I have ever known...

I need to know if you were bullied from the platform about going the weekend before.
I'm thinking about going to the Hall with my JW friends. My friends seem to become more cognizant of the nastiness that the elders spew during the presentations when I'm sitting there. I can feel their discomfort as insults are hurled my way. Knowing TTATT, the vile hatred bounces off of me. I actually feel sorry for the adherents. It can't be easy walking around with so much contempt and fear.
Just wondering what the chances are that I'll hear/not hear them speak of Christmas Day Field Service. 50/50?

maybe the WT society should organise groups to go door to door singing christmas carols on christmas day. That would be a good variation and also other christian groups do that anywayand it wouldn't be offensive to anyone.
