Old Aida -- on JWS -- well that was a while ago. I still miss JWS a little bit.

Cooked a lot today, a pork roast, a loaf of bread and endless loaves of pumpkin bread for a neighbor who wants to give it to all her friends. Tomorrow I'll cook endless loaves of cranberry bread as gifts for my friends, and make pork enchiladas for a dinner Monday night with friends. Tuesday I'll be passing out gifts to neighbors -- everyone gets homemade jam and cranberry bread. Wednesday a pot luck dinner -- I'm making dressing for the turkey.
So, a little cooking after all. The apartment smells good and I get to work off some holiday steam!
Mmmmm, bloody Marys. Maybe I'll make a pitcher of those, too.

Oh, Hortensia, I would love to be your next door neighbour. Sounds and smells delicious. Any appartments going?
Leftovers and crumbs are welcome too!

As a matter of fact, there are several apartments vacant right now. People don't want to move this time of the year. Man, what I would give to have another ally in this land of woowoo. Someone actually introduced me recently as "our token atheist."

That's a good badge of honour! I have friends who are believers, and though I haven't said anything to them about my past, they have deduced that I'm not a believer and always tread lightly when they want to talk about stuff they believe in. What makes it funnier is that they made that deduction on the simple fact that I tend to be very rational and logical. Oh well.
If I make it down to your corner, I'd love to come and bake with you and be a second "token". I recently made a pumpkin bread for some colleagues. When my roommates knew it had just come out of the oven, their small "taste" led to a depleted loaf! I always love watching people enjoy something good like fresh warm pumpkin bread!
What flavour jams did you make?

I made cranberry dream bars a la Starbucks. I made mine gluten free, I used a regular recipe and substituted with GF flour, it came out pretty good. There are copycat recipes all over the internet, do a search for "Starbucks cranberry bliss bar". The recipe called for lemon juice in the frosting, but others said to use orange peel, so I used kumquat peel which is similar to orange.

Sounds wonderful, LisaRose.
Likeabird -- I picked plums, grapes and pears last fall, so I made plum jam, grape jam (which is absolutely nothing like Welch's) and pears in wine syrup. I also was given a bunch of rhubarb, so I made rhubarb jam with ginger. I only have a little of that, I'm not giving it away! Made quarts and quarts of salsa, too. And several quarts of tomato soup, which is already gone. It tasted so good, I kept having tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for supper.
Right now I'm roasting eggplant and red bell peppers for caponata.

OMG! I just opened a present that arrived today. Someone gave me CASHMERE SOCKS. I have them on now. Wow!

At the moment, my favorite recipes just involve opening a bottle, pouring, drinking. Then I forget how to cook.
Clearly it's all the fault of the grocery store to have nearly all their wine and liquor on sale.
