I do not know about USA, but in Eastern Europe I have seen and encountered quite a few JW that do not accept all the teaching 100%. There are others who believes everything that WT writes, and when you show older publication that is in contradiction of the new teaching they will tell you outright that is no important was was written in 1970's, but what WT published in 2013.

I not only see that, but I see JW's using those 'weak in the faith', or borderline JWs as examples to trick the unwary into thinking that JW's are 'normal', or less culty than they really are.

Every time a JW tells a potential convert, (or ex-Dub for that matter), an 'experience' that makes them sound 'safe' they are leaving out relevant details that they really don't want to discuss if the right questions are asked.

I can't help but wonder if one of the effects of the branch closures will be that "mother" becomes farther and farther away, and independent thinking increases. It would become easier to rationalize, "The brothers in Brooklyn (or remote NY compound) don't understand the realities of life in our country. Their advice on dress, marriage, holidays, etc. doesn't really fit in our country."

    Billy,

I do not think that Brooklyn cares much what are regional diversity around the globe. Everyone must wear the same suit and that is the order or you will not be allowed to go to assembly!

Last time I was with JW in my native country was about 20 years ago. It was a time when JW peaked following the collapse of the communist block and everything seemed great. But JW organization was no more the same I grew up in the 70's and 80's. Almost everywhere in that region, they are losing members, the assemblies had thinned and they are declining in numbers due biological clock. The closures of branches in Czech Republic or Estonia reflects that. I believe Slovakia, and Hungary branch will be closed down and as the membership shrunk to the level of the 1980's. The cane manage entire region just from the Germany. It is still only couple hours of drive everywhere from it.
