Thank you Label, and I apologize for the mis-spells. I hope the content still rings true all the same.

    God_Delusion:

As others may have said, there were also a number of factors that led up to my walking away from the JW religion.

There were so many clues and I probably should have left sooner but the 1995 changed teaching on "Generation" was the proverbial last straw. Others may have ignored it, but it was a fatal blow to my faith in the religion and I could no longer continue in good conscience and tell people this garbled nonsense was "truth".

I left because I developed a severe allergy to bullsh!t.

Since that option wasn't available, I went with my second choice.

May I ask why you need a poorly constructed poll from a sample of people known to dislike the WT at the very least? This reminds me of JW Survey.

The poll is not valid. The WT is such a pervasive influence in one's life. It does not resemble a normal religion. I had a whole host of issues, doctrines, actual experiences at the KH. I suspect growing up and gaining independence from my parents was one huge factor.

These Internet polls drive me crazy. Besides this particular question is asked almost daily by some poster. It is good to repeat as a question b/c lurkers and new members can see the broad range of reasons. It isn't as though if the WT cleaned up one area of its totalitarianism most members here would happily return to the fold.

It would be nice to particpate in a valid poll for once.

I clicked "Born In and never really accepted". Even though it took me 50yrs to exit I never grasped what the hell they were talking about. I liked my social circle, warm and fuzzy. I liked the routien and clean living concepts. But all my life the "living forever in Paradise" just never took. How is that going to work? AS IF! One day I finally dicided I cannot teach this nonsense to one more poor slob.

I got tired of hearing someone say "oh, that has changed, haven't you read the latest Watchtower?"

I didn't take the poll either, because the choices were too limiting and definite. For me, it was a cumulative building up of various things which finally tipped .....
