The WT pursues a technical argument, flawed as it is, about translation.
But they never deal with what the original books meant in their day; how were they viewed? How do they compare with other literature from the time?
Elaine Pagels (Gnostic Gospels, Origin of Satan, Beyond Belief) says we can't understand the New Testament until we recognize that it is wartime literature.
Does the WT ever address this? No.
Do they ever discuss apocalyptic as a trope of ancient literature? No.
But there is the above silly argument about 100 copyists, etc.
William H. Green " was the scholarly leader of the orthodox wing of American Presbyterianism , and was the moderator of the General Assembly of 1891. Green was chairman of the Old Testament committee of the Anglo-American Bible revision committee."
Bible scholar F. F. Bruce was " one of the founders of the modern evangelical understanding of the Bible."
How about some neutral scholars for comparison, WT?
How about quotes from Bart Ehrman, Elaine Pagels, Burton Mack, or John Dominic Crossan?
para 7, says we have to keep on tanking in knowledge of thr GB in order to live forever, this make me so sick to have to read this rubbish.
What is means is fill your time reading nonsense from the GB and sacrifice time having a healthy balanced normal life. What an awful cult I need to get my son out as soon as possible it's so unhealthy for him to listen to this cultish indoctrination session, I just hope his dad let him miss. He made up a fine excuse this week.
Arghhh this is driving me to frustration, I want him out.

Are you implying that the use of long dead scholars who appear to back the WT's specious claims would be put in doubt by quoting these late scholars ?

Clearly, Watchtower regards the religionists of evil christendom as being more trustworthy than unindoctrinated, secular scholars.

Yep, what I'm saying.
The WT sees value in the OT and NT only if they are taken as real histories, and at face value.
The mainstream religions have moved beyond that idea, and it hasn't hurt them, IMO.
This WT is associating the name Jehovah, with love and obeying his commandments. But actually it is indoctrinating good people to obey the GB and love the GB, the name Jehovah is reall irrelavent and just smoke and mirrors that stand for theGB in this article. Well that's my 2p. I hope I will be free of reading the crap soon.

"If 100 or so students copied something, you could expect some errors in each copy. Still not every student would make the exact same mistakes. Therefore, by comparing all the extant copies, you would get an accurate picture of the original."
This makes no sense.
What if one or more words were all different, what was the original? Or 50% of the copies had the word translated one way, and the other 50% translated it a different way?
Which is original?
That is a flawed argument.
Also by if by "original" they mean a third-hand account of the event written decades after it happened
