The educational system here is pitiful. We are taught mostly WHAT to know and think, rather than HOW to know and think.
What is lacking, IMO, is a course on epistemology, and how to detect logical fallacies (and know them).
What is usually encouraged, is to shut up and learn by heart for coming exams. I have a lot of disgust for the curriculums of this country.

I May have only learned TTATT this year, but I knew for years that Americans were under educated. Speaking as one, of course.

arriving as an immigrant from Northern Europe in North America I was SURPRISED, incredulous at the deep religiosity of the locals.

In my home environment. Religion and faith was a JOKE. but.

North America also has produced good science, technology, so

they did not get to the moon because of the St Christopher dashboard icons. but:

sadly the US media have always treated science as the egghead/ frankenstein, joke. why was that?

What we have here is a population that is slowly enlightening, and that's awesome.

Our legacy as a country is the fundamentalism and exclusionary actions as previously mentioned. However, many of the most staunch fundies that I've interacted with have inherited only the attitude and not the facts!

These are the "put the Christ back in Christmas", "this is a Christian country" sorts. And they don't even know their history.
