Lies on the JW.org FAQ section

    It's riddled with lies.

Here are a few, "Are you an American sect?" -

    • All of our teachings are based on the Bible, not on the writings of some religious leader in the United States.—1 Thessalonians 2:13.

    • We follow Jesus Christ, not any human leader.—Matthew 23:8-10.

    "Are Jehovah's Witnesses a cult?"

    • Some think of a cult as being a dangerous religious sect with a human leader. Jehovah’s Witnesses do not look to any human as their leader. Rather, we adhere to the standard that Jesus set for his followers when he stated: “Your Leader is one, the Christ.”—Matthew 23:10.

"Do you feel you are the only people that will be saved?" - (this one they lie and really twist to try to keep w/ their 'no' answer)

No. Many millions who lived in centuries past and who weren’t Jehovah’s Witnesses will have an opportunity for salvation. The Bible explains that in God’s promised new world, “ there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous. ” ( Acts 24:15 ) Additionally, many now living may yet begin to serve God, and they too will gain salvation. In any case, it’s not our job to judge who will or won’t be saved. That assignment rests squarely in Jesus’ hands.— John 5:22,27 .

"Do you shun former members of your religion"

Those who were baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses but no longer preach to others, perhaps even drifting away from association with fellow believers, are not shunned. In fact, we reach out to them and try to rekindle their spiritual interest.'

(don't you like how they try to twist that as well? Yet if you mention that to active jw's, they will say that is talking about inactive not disassociated or former. Yet that answer is for those who aren't JW's and familar with terms, so they are twisting and lying, trying to make it appear that former members aren't shunned)

There are more, but the FAQ's lies can be used to maybe help waken or to mention as concerns for those who are fading/etc. Why are they being deceptive, lying, etc.

Of course JW is American based religious group that will always entices people outside USA due its American origin. My family in Eastern Europe felt that way (which was probably reason why they joined during communist era), and I believe much of the developing world will see it as something extraordinary. Just look into the Book of Revelation analysis where seven trumpets are associated with some unimportant assemblies in Ohio through 1920's .

Yup the FAQs are simple doublespeak for PR purposes. Very carefully worded and designed to deflect criticism. They drive me mad. I've tried a few times to discuss these with other Witnesses to see if there is any recognition of the twisted words but everytime it's obvious that there is no one prepared to share my cynicism.

If you are a baptised jw and are doing all jw.org tells you to do you will be saved and not die.

If you are a baptised jw and are diss. dissf. or no longer doing all the jw.org tell you to do then you are the walking dead. And you will die. Their rules.

I have drifted thats all, AND AM BEING SHUNNED, even though no official diss. dissf. They forget to say that elders wifes will judge you no matter what, and gossip about you to anyone who will listen, and influence their elder husbands.

The answers to the questions...indeed the way some of the questions are structured are SPIN.

Notice how the question about JW's being a 'cult' immediately starts with a logical fallacy ('some think'), and diverts. What is the definition of a 'former member'?

Whereas the answers may be legally correct the the reality of the WBT$ culture is misrepresented here. Yes, I agree it's a big lie but in some cases a lie by omission.

If only the Governing Body of Jehovah's witnesses and their corporations would be put on trial for crimes against humanity and face the maximum penalty.....that'd make me feel real justice was in the process of being served! I might even smile for a change

I have written about some of these lies at jwfacts.com/watchtower/blog/jw-org-website.php. Their media department are experts now at presenting an image quite different from what the religion is really about.

I almost like their answer to the salvation question, it's quite funny: 'no, we don't think we're the only ones who will be saved, some nonJWs might become JWs in future, and then they can get saved too!'

As if anyone asking that question only means current JWs.

    Interesting.

I spoke, for the first time in years, to two JWs this morning.

He told me that I was wrong, they do not shun ex JWs. (Maybe they are starting to believe their own proaganda.)

He also told me that they have never solicited for money.

I think he comes from the planet ZOB.

More importantly jen1--If you question that they are the true organization yet u still believe in Christ and God you will still be DF'ed most likely...i asked an elder once "what if someone believed in Christ and God, demonstrated the values Christ had and is a genuinely good person, will they be saved at Armageddon?" he basically told me how Jehovah would lead him/her and he/she would also need to perform the lost important work--the preaching work.
