  BOTR, I hear you on your pet peeves. One of mine is trying to extract a deathbed conversion.

  I also dislike when people offer to "pray for me" after a heated argument. Doesn't it sound more like a threat than a comfort?

  But I do offer to pray with anyone who asks for it, as a source of comfort and encouragement. I also make it a habit to do it on the spot and not just make it a platitude. That is, not "I will pray for you" but "Let's pray".
