Greetings to ShaleenT, welcome to the board

I'm afraid I have to agree with Fred and SYN on this one.

Thinking the WBTS is about to collapse en masse is just wishful thinking. They'll be around for decades yet at least, but maybe not in the current form.

I think the disillusionment we see is the normal rate of leavers slightly increased due to the Internet, those already in are mostly beyond hope. The real gains as far as we are concerned is the number of new people NOT going in.

    AlanF,

I love to see you get mad at me. You think you know it all, but you don't. If I live in a Orwellian world, then it is full of love. And that is something you can't have. And you are right, you are not Chicken Little. You are Chicken Shit.

Unlike many members of the board , I still attend some meetings, even if only to lend support to family, and i am on good terms with the locals

I do not see an organisation about to collapse

Granted the rate of increase has all but stalled, but there are plenty of diehards to keep it going a long time. They are quite gullible enough to swallow whatever "New light" is presented to explain the extended Last Days.

Do not believe that all of the youth lead double lives , many that I know are fully committed

In short, I am sure that the Org will fade away eventually, but it is going to be here for us to complain about for a long time yet.

"We would not refuse to treat one as a brother because he did not believe the Society is the Lord's channel... There should be full liberty of conscience." -- WT April 1, 1920, p. 100, 101

Whatever happened to that noble idea? If it was a good idea in 1920, why is it anathema now?

    >Pretending and lying is no longer possible and not destroy what you are inside.

Freedom does not come without a price. Some are not willing to pay it, yet. Some will never be willing.<

OMG, that is so true. Sooooo ture.

And I also attend the meetings, and the organization is at presently dying. Anybody who is anybody in this book publishing company are criminals by the standards of most of the rest of the world.

Uncharged and unprosecutable criminals, mind you---but criminals nonetheless. Manslaughter at the least. And they've all been doing it so long, it doesn't feel WRONG to them anymore.

In judging the future of the Watchtower, the question always
needs to be asked - What do they do next?

Suppose their shunning extremism doesn't work and everything
gets worse. What do they do then? Try to push even more extremist
behavior on the friends? Like what - encourage more home schooling
or baptisms at 8 years old or df'ing elders who attempt to
resign? Once you start down this road, when do you stop?

On the other hand, could they tire out in the face of deepening
    defeat and reverse course?

This is the critical point about forecasting the Watchtower's
future - it's a dynamic and reactionary situation - and if you
think that they will simply fade away, you must explain how
they could halt all their reaction to change and just sit on their
hands permanently. I don't think they can do that - and that
means they can make huge mistakes that will hasten their demise.
