Tower of Babel and the Bible's language

So *IF* God wrote the Bible (or directed people on what to write), he must have wanted people to read it and follow it.

So why did he confuse the languages at the tower of Babel and then have his OT books written in only one of the languages?

If people couldn't read it, they couldn't follow it. If they had nothing else to follow, the people inclined to believe in higher powers would have to try to figure that out for themselves and end up with various beliefs.

So God is to blame for any false religion and worship of false gods. Babel or Babylon would have been a big push towards false religions.

Maybe if he wasn't scared of a bronze age temple, the people would have more common beliefs.

And no, I don't really believe any of these tales. But I thought it was something believers should think about.

It was so that eventually, in the 20th century, Watchtower could invent MEPS and get around that pesky, god-invented conundrum of too many languages.

You see, this way god could use MEPS to "prove" he was was blessing WT and get himself out of the pickle he got himself into.

    It's simple....

    Jws...intersting thought....besides who invented language?

Each individual interprets words both spoken and written differntly...its such an imperfect way to communicate that Gods written word would have been confusing enough without the need to make it more confusing....

I remember from study in KH that the original language was Hebrew. They tought as that Adam and Eve spoke Hebrew and all other languages were result of the Tower of Babel curse.

Moses is supposed to have written the first five books of the bible right ? More than 2000 years after Adam and Eve .

None of the people who lived prior to that were worthy of Gods guidance and instructions ?

Yet God wiped out a world of people who had no such guidance from him.

Apologetics aside, the real answer to your question, jws, is that the Jews were descended from God's pal Abraham, and back then, it was considered fair that you would have a good life or a crappy life based on who you were descended from and whether they had done good or bad (just like Adam and Eve's wrongdoing led to a curse that carried down to every descendant). So God only cared about guiding "his people" since they came from Abraham, and the rest would just have to keep living in sin without the benefit of God's Word, unless they realized the Jewish god was the most powerful one and came to live in Israel and abide by their customs.

The idea that God cares about all people equally seems to have been invented by Paul.
