Thankfully it ended in a charge for this man (the man accused of manslaughter). He got 13 years in the new trial.

I was always raised that serving on a jury was a conscience matter and perfectly acceptable if you chose to do it. The only exception being a case where the death penalty would be a possibility.
My still a witness wife has done jury duty and enjoyed it.
