I guess it was just different times. Thanks for the info on your little one.........now big. Mine is now 38 and really big, and not so busy anymore. But his little guy sure is..........reminds me exactly of him at that age (18 months).........can't sit still, and never stops talking. Very cute too.

This thread just brought back memories that I had totally forgotten.

Before I had my first child I used to run into mothers at malls,
district conventions, and such who had their kid in a harness.

I always just hated how it looked and I selfrightiously thought,"if they trained their kid right they wouldn't need that horrible thing!"

Well, my daughter was destined to be a "wildchild" and test every last nerve I had from birth on.

I was paid back dearly for those earlier thoughts.

She was so hard to keep up with! But I still refused to use the dreaded harness.

Instead I really thought I was smart and bought a different device.

I don't know what it was called but it had a cuff on each end which you and your child wore as a braclet connected by about 3-4 foot of a springy plastic rope.

This was so much more humane, I thought.I wasn't about to walk my child like a dog.[8>]

LOL,Looking at it now, I guess it looked like I was walking a criminal instead!

Anyway,I took this new device to the district convention and atached my daughter and I to it.

It was a nightmare!!!She took off running and streched this thing as far as it would go which was well beyond my reach, then she wrapped around two or three people! I was so embarrassed.

I decided not to give it up yet because I spent money on the darn thing!

She took off again and got wrapped aroung the metal chairs on the floor and was dragging them!

    That was it!

I was so relieved that my daughter and I didn't trip an elderly sister or something like that.

I went back to something old fasioned, cheap, and safe.
