I sent 25 dollars already, but I will see if I can manage somemore. Is there any chance for the amount collected so far to be posted. It always seems there is a big rounded out figure always growing bigger and bigger. I know lawyers fees are expensive. Are we making any dint in the amount required? Or is it hopeless, dropping money down a bottomless pit.

…dropping money down a bottomless pit.

Doesn't matter to me. Thanks to the Internet and Simon in particular, this is my opportunity to put some money were my mouth is and hope that the Jehovah's Witness in question might know that some anonymous individual is empathetic towards his families unfortunate plight.

Reports coming out of the girl's congregation (thanks to JWs on the Web) are that she's scheduled for her next round of chemo and blood transfusions in early June, and David Gnam (the WTS's lawyer in the case) is applying to the Supreme Court for an early hearing so she can possibly avoid these treatments.

and another BTTT for this thread

    Dung,

I am now taking Emails and I look forward to talking to my little flying freind with six legs - hehehehehehehe

    Scully,

Message(s) received and I have sent the apparent violation to Mr. ___ for an investigation.

Again thanks to all who are taking the time to help out and who have posted.

Just to update you guys, there was a newspaper article on this issue a few days ago. The JWs lawyer is trying to appeal this case to the "supremes" on an expedited track. However, I think this bozo has a problem. That is the supreme court of Canada has already ruled on this issue in the past and the high courts of Alberta have stated that this case should not be heard by the "supremes". But, there is always a chance for someone on the high court to want to hear the appeal. My thoughts is the JWs have a 25% of getting their appeal heard.

I remind all that this is a life and death situation here. She is about to start her final round of chemo. All the father wants to do is at least allow his daughter a chance at life. He is up against a rich and powerful legal team that is pushing him to the limits. It was the mother who actually tried to pull the IV out of the daughter's arm to stop a blood transfusion during this crasy ordeal. It is so sad that things like this have to happen all because some old men in NY think they represent some "special" group and have managed to "suck" some innocent people into the vortex.

    Hawk:

Thanks for the update. According to the JWs on the Web (JW only) site, the 16 yr old girl in this case attended the meeting for the first time last night. She had to sit in the "third school" with a special attendant (it didn't specify if this was medical or legal personnel) and she had to leave immediately following the meeting because her immune system is suppressed from the chemotherapy, leaving her dangerously susceptible to even minor infections. Apparently, she received a long round of applause from the congregation, supporting her decision to continue refusing blood transfusions.

If this case does end up being heard by the Supreme Court, and Shunned Dad ends up having to come to Ottawa, I'd be happy to show up and offer some moral support.

I am so glad to see the posts of ones responding to the appeal for donations to help the father. I'm sure there are many more who have already done so too, but what a "witness" we will give to the WTS if "shunned Father" receives enough to not let these bullies push their weight around.

We're onto their scare tactics and I'm sure there are enough of us around who don't want to let the WTS have their way with this girl's life. She's nothing more to them than a feather in their cap if they succeed in their tactics of pushing this further so he can't afford to fight them.

And the results?....she likely loses her life and the WTS get another martyr to use to glorify themselves in their mags.

I know there is enough of us here that just can't let that happen!

    Hawkaw,
I came across some articles about this, each one heartbreaking....One article said that this father's legal bill totaled over $100,000. It had the same address that you posted for sending checks...One article said that while she was in the hospital the "meetings" were piped into her room and her father wasn't allowed in the room at this time...at least they're on the mend.....
