It's going to continue to be unsolveable if people keep returning to the same wrong ideas, endlessly.

Go to any progressive or liberal website in the US and take note of their headlines that proclaim that the government is wrong, our freedoms are being threatened........and how there is a need to grab guns.

    utterly foolish.

The more well managed and just a democratic society is, the less need it has for guns, openly. If fear is the cause, then fix whatever is causing the f***ing fear! Instead of pretending that it doesn't exist or matter!

The drive to grab guns is dead wrong and the proof that it is wrong is the documented fact that it has triggered a massive wave of gun and ammo purchases across the US - and this "unintended consequence" gets worse with every new attempt to seize or remove them.

Furthermore, if there is any remaining doubt that this train of thought is the correct approach ( the general correction of society and government) , then think about new technology. Does anyone really think that governments will be able to control 3-D tech anymore than guns themselves?

We don't care about the Mental Health problems in the United States, years ago there was a shooter near Sandia, New Mexico who fell through the cracks because Ronald Reagan started to cut programs dedicated to help individuals suffering. The shooter needed mental health, tol people he was going to do something bad but the State of New Mexico decimated it's mental health resources for the poor and many cops died over this gross neglience by the Right to off all services to the poor.

Some States here in the United States brag how little they spend on health-care, currently yo see all the debates by crazy fools claiming Health Care is going to be the End, is National Health Care as evil as the rich make and Rush Limbo-Ditto heads make it out to be?

I know Australia reduced their murder-homicide rate close to zero by getting rid of all the guns held by loose ends, would this help in the United States? If all the money spent by the propaganda artists NRA was spent to better discover who needs help, might we break this cycle of evil?

I can't get over the gun culture in America. I was listening to a debate between an englishman and an american (both whom I respect very much). There was two hypothecital goals to work towards, put on the table by the englishman: a utopia where civilians didn't carry guns. Or a utopia where civilians carried guns but everyone was educated enough to not use them.

After much back and forth, the american finally said he wouldn't want to live in country where he couldn't have his guns. Even if there was no danger or need for them (he carried them for self protection) he would still want them.

I lived in South Africa and had no desire to carry a gun for protection.

I just can't get my head around many americans who just can't be without there favorite toys.

Sammie's Wife, you failed to take into account the mental health systems in the US and other countries. Of course there are mentally ill people all over the world, but the difference is how they are treated.

Dis-Member, you proved my point. Mentally ill people in the US are medicated but not monitored.

So sad that some people just went to the shops and now their families will never see them again.

Seems like it is an insolveable problem for America.

I agree. This does happen in other countries, but it seems more rare. Here it just seems like we are bound to have public shooting sprees every couple of months. We are blessed in so many ways, here in America, but we plagued by modern problems such as this.

dismembers post I think is right on the money!

About 10 years ago, I was briefly put on effexor for mild depression. I am one of the most passive / nonviolent and non tempermental people anyone could know. Never blown up or anything. After a week I felt a weird change, that I was getting very aggressive and just the slightest tiniest thing a person could do could make me blow up on them and possibly physically attack them. I immediately cold turkeyed that stuff and stayed home until it was out of my system and I was back to normal. Years later I looked it up and saw many horror stories about that stuff.

Then I know other people personally who doctors just put them on anything and guinea pig them, for even minor things which could be treated alternatively. They then become depedenant on them and if they try to stop the medication, they may have had very minor mental issues or just depression, then suddenly it's much much worse.

Aside from that, imagine, like in the case of wellbrutin, where the past several years the drug was made incorrectly and it had not been working, if you have thousands/hundreds of thousands of people on some of these more dangerous withdrawal and side effect mental medications that begin within a few days of withdrawal, if the drug company screws up and the batches are not made correctly, then you have thousands of walking time bombs all over the place, who have guns they bought to protect themselves and their familes, which they are now a danger to all around them.

Feed unstable people's minds with violence through TV, video games, movies, music videos, etc.

Then add a flourish of easily attainable guns to these people and what do you expect ?

Its all a bad mixture from human sociological and psychological viewpoint .

There is bound to be a small segment of that population that is going to take out their own personal

problems and strife on to others as a retaliatory action and the

best way to them through mental indoctrination is take a gun and fire at someone.
