The scriptures to be read aloud include 3 passages from Thessalonians, which mention "letters from us."
I read this news story this morning, got a glimmer of hope that someone might have to answer some questions, and that maybe some JW's would acutally wake up as a result of this new scandal... but after reading this article (and the cherry-picked scripture references that are supposed to support their claims), I really lost hope.
Who will a JW listen to? The Governing Body, who answers to no one but Jehovah, or the devil's media, that actually has to prove what they publish about other people?
If they are innocent, why do they refuse to answer questions? Oh, it must be so nice to live above reproach and accountability!

I have heard thru the grapevine that several ex-JW's will be attending the court hearing to support the victims and that this may be bigger than the news is reporting but our firends are unable to give us details because it might jeopardize the case.

Bad news. I read this on Facebook: UPDATE on Oklahoma Pedophile Case! Today Mr. Wendall Marley took the stand and made statements contrary to Watchtower's own published statements. Mr. Marley stated that the elders should be considered as any other clergy, this is despite the fact that Watchtower's publications say they have no clergy. Mr. Marley also under oath stated that all the elders were equal and that none were greater than the other. Mr. Marley is currently the Congregation Coordinator (formerly kn ... own as Presiding Overseer or Congregation Overseer).
A couple disturbing things are that Mr. Marley sat with the confessed pedophile, and during this hearing the confessed pedophile Ronald Lawrence could be heard snickering at the victim giving testimony.
Judge James Bland dismissed the case, yet the District Attorney's office announced to the court plans to appeal it. If appealed it will go to a higher court in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.Interpretation or defining when statute of limitations starts. Hopefully appeal will stick. There also could be recent victims that may come forward.
