I am searching for the materials showing the Watchtower changing the original content like or examples of the following.

"The Preaching Work will be finished in the 20th century and never be repeated". I heard they changed this gem, and many others, why are they so dishonest, their members are stuck in the mental mud, doubt they even read the new magazines so why are they going to the trouble of changing or revising their past magazines when the members wanting true Christian Freedom, practicing love and compassion will locate the revised materials?

What's with them, why are they so dishonest, have they no faith God will punish them for lying and presenting past events in false ways.

Edited to add the above link -- for more info, put Johnny Walker Red into JWN Search.

    Hi RILEY:

    A sort of revisionism, I believe . . .

When the WT got caught copying the Johnny Walker Red ad with the beach house and sunset, a totally new drawing appeared with the accompanying article in the bound volume. Their explanation -- apparently triggered by readers' inquiries -- was very breezy, no hint of the actual threat of lawsuit. It was to do, I believe, with their (WT) making images relevant and appropriate to demographics, or some such . . .

" What's with them, why are they so dishonest, have they no faith God will punish them for lying and presenting past events in false ways. "

It is my gut feeling that most in the Writing and Legal Departments do not believe in God, and that probably all of them know for sure that the WT/JW "religion" is not God's Org.

Hence they have no fear of using half truths, obfuscation, mis-quotes, and downright lies.

Anything to keep the Milch Cow's udders flowing with $$$.

have they no faith God will punish them for lying and presenting past events in false ways.

I kind of have the opposite slant to the point of view just above.

I think they have such utter contempt for the rank & file JWs, that they think they "can't handle the truth".

They think the faith of the typical JW is more fragile than 2000 year old parchment, so they think they are doing the JWs a favor by "protecting' them from things that would "stumble" them.

Better to lie to the JW faithful - it's part of their "theocratic warfare" and "protecting the master's interests".

I think you are right about that "attitude" Sir82, an "utter contempt for the rank & file JWs, that they think they "can't handle the truth". and I think that goes from the top all the way down to Elder level, and is fostered by the W.T.

It is impossible to know the level of belief at the "top", but I still feel in my gut that at the very top what I said above may well be the case. I have not one shred of proof for this.

By the "very top" I do not mean the GB, they may well be believers in their own B.S, but I guess that at Editorial level in the Writing Dept. we may find cynical non-believers, at least in the God's Channel rubbish, they know it is all made up !

I personally knew a guy who was in the Writing Department many years ago, he really was a deluded believer, and a pompous A-hole too.

So, we cannot really know of course.

But without doubt the lies, and the changing of what they wrote show that none of them believe in Truth and Honesty.

Yes, they do re-write their history. I have thought od doing a point by point analysis of the latest videos. I have just been really busy. Still, you only need to listen, pause the video, and check their own literature to confirm that they are white washing everything.

    *** w66 10/15 p. 631 Rejoicing over “God’s Sons of Liberty” Spiritual Feast ***
‘Does it mean that Armageddon is going to be finished, with Satan bound, by 1975? It could! It could! All things are possible with God. Does it mean that Babylon the Great is going to go down by 1975? It could. Does it mean that the attack of Gog of Magog is going to be made on Jehovah’s witnesses to wipe them out, then Gog himself will be put out of action? It could. But we are not saying. All things are possible with God. But we are not saying. And don’t any of you be specific in saying anything that is going to happen between now and 1975. But the big point of it all is this, dear friends: Time is short. Time is running out, no question about that.

    *** jv chap. 8 p. 104 Declaring the Good News Without Letup (1942-1975) ***
Brother Franz then referred to the many questions that had arisen as to whether the material in the new book meant that by 1975 Armageddon would be finished, and Satan would be bound. He stated, in essence: ‘It could. But we are not saying. All things are possible with God. But we are not saying. And don’t any of you be specific in saying anything that is going to happen between now and 1975. But the big point of it all is this, dear friends: Time is short. Time is running out, no question about that.’

Well...the same words are there, but the tone is vastly different in the Proclaimers book than in the 1966 WT article. They mean two entirely different things to the person living in 1966 and hearing that talk and the person in the '90s who wasn't there and is reading the Proclaimers book.

So...does this mean that history is being rewritten by the Watchtower? It could! It could! All things are possible with them. Does it mean that the Proclaimers book and the Faith in Action DVDs are revising the history of the org? It could. But we are not saying. And don't any of you be specific in saying anything that may have been revised between 1874 and now.

    sir82,

I agree. They see the r&f as children. (I'm sure there are also some that don't believe at all like phizzy said)

I believe they see the masses (publishers) as people who need someone to tell them what to do, what to believe, what to think, and basically need a fairy tale bedtime story every night to get through life.

They perpetuate a childish dependence and repressed mental/emotional abilities. They do this under the guise of "taking care of the little sheep" that "can't handle the truth".

While there may be some truth to people needing a "mommy", they show their hand when they threaten these same people (they claim to protect) with the cruelty of slander, scarlet-lettering, and banishment.

How could a mentally underdeveloped, dependant, child-like person possibly deal with that level of threat?

The answer is - they can't. They run under the bed and hide mentally waiting for "mommy" to make it all better.

The control techniques are sinister, cruel, and abusive. There is no justification for it.

    sd-7,

Love the way franz printed the year number 1975 plainly 3 times in one paragraph while claiming not to be pointing to the date.

I think sir82 might be on to something.

I'm absolutely certain that those higher up in the heirarchy don't have a high opinion of the R&F; that was a trait of Ted Jaracz, and a significant aspect of his legacy.

I'm also certain (since I've come to the conclusion that authoritarian leaders don't experience cognitive dissonance like the rest of us) that the policy makers really do simply view whatever they're declaring as immutable Truth, regardless of whether it's actually right or wrong.

For example, if they determined that it was in the WTS's best interest (short- or long-term) to declare that the Earth was flat, "the Earth is flat" would become the WTS's Truth.

    Period.

They have been amending the facts for decades and watering down much of what was said/written in the past. With jw.org, I'm sure they will only get more brazen as they can click, cut and save. History re-written.
