This evening I have just watched a news item that concerned a baby that has been abandoned by the side of a busy main road. The BBC did a short feature on people who had been found after being literally “left on a doorstep” somewhere as a new-born baby.
One woman, in her early 60’s now, said that she never could get any peace because she just didn’t know why her unknown mother had left her on a stranger’s doorstep. She didn’t know her own name, she didn’t even know when she was born or where. She was totally without any sense of foundation or belonging. Poor woman.
It made me realise just how much we rely on our parents for own sense of identity, for our sense of being cared for, for our belief in our own self worth.
I think that this is why the WTBTS is now reaping a whirlwind for itself over this whole business of shunning. So many children – grown-up children – have been beside themselves with justifiable rage that this organisation can tell their parents to ignore, shun and emotionally abandon their own children. For many years now, thousands and thousands of DF’d persons have been dwelling in isolation, abandoned by their parents who have acted on the WTBTS’s instructions.
Of course, the advent of the internet was always going to serve as a meeting point for all these angry people who have been emotionally discarded by their own flesh and blood. In some instances the reverse has proved to be the case, with imprinted JW children now abandoning parents who have chosen to disassociate themselves from this un-Biblical religion.
Sometimes I read posts here and elsewhere, and find that the rage and wish for justice to be a palpable entity, a tremendous thirst for redress is a common feeling amongst most ex-JW’s.
How the WTBTS will deal with this one I really don’t know. The problem is not going to go away. They can only warn of internet dangers so many times before the message becomes tedious and begins to be ignored by the R & F.
IMO, the heat on the WTBTS from ex’s who want their birthright returned will get more and more intense. Anyone who is online and is considering joining the JW org will automatically do a search on the religion and be put of from associating. This is happening already judging by the way that their conversions are going into decline.
No, the WTBTS has really blown it this time, there can be no going back now. Too many people have been too hurt, too many people are uniting into a common pressure group that is now gathering an unstoppable momentum that is already dealing crippling blows to the reputation of the men in Brooklyn.
Justice is slowly starting to be done, and I'm proud to be playing a part in it!
