Your policy is NOT agressive...it does NOT meet the needs of children..it does NOT obey the laws of the land.

You WAIT untill a child has been molested...THEN the child is subjected to judicial committee of untrained volunteers...then it is decided whether their are TWO WITNESSES and IF they are credible...then---maybe---JW's doSOMETHING--maybe...

There is nothing agressive about this policy by any stretch of the imagination whatsoever.

This policy meets the needs of no child on this earth. From the time a substainable allegation of abuse is made, immediately, trained and experienced professionsals need to be called in.

Elders are not qualified to interrogate these children, or even the adults for that matter. They are certainly not trained to practice medicine without a license on the victims, the perpetrator, the whole family.

This policy does NOT obey the laws of the land. Although STATING no action will be taken against anyone reporting abuse, we know this is a blatant and flagrant lie. Simply stating that it is up to the victim to report the abuse DOES NOT COMPLY WITH THE LAW. There are many states where many persons MUST report abuse--parents in all of them for one thing--and there is an incredible list of mandated reporters. This policy does not cover those requirements.

Action SHOULD be initiated against ANYONE required to report abuse who does not.

And this is pathetic.."an abuse report will be made if the child does not have someone who can report it" what wishywasy dogfart.

WATCHTOWER is begging for persecution, begging to be sued, they LIVE for persecution and will do ANYTHING to get it..

One elder in a congregation in the UK told me about a situation which was occurring with the local news paper.
He had been seeking the advice from the brothers at bethel on how to handle the situation, and he told me what they said.
Firstly to say nothing or as little as possible in order to not fan the flames.
Secondly, under no circumstances must reproach be brought upon Jehovah's name.
This second piece of advise applies to all their PR and answers your question. Their name "jehovah's witnesses" a k a "jehovah's name" must be protected at all costs, even if this involves lying, cover up and excommunication of individuals.
All of these things have been done by the leadership, not only continue to be done, but continue to be official policy.

I am constantly amazed at the brash arrogance the Watchtower has regarding this issue! Do they have no conscience or shame???

I just know there is a special place in hell for pedophiles. There's a place right next door for the people that protect them!

Well, this just keeps getting better and better.

1)NOW, J.R.Brown is quoted as saying: "If the law requires parents to report abuse, parents are told by the elders to report".

And he said this how many times, where, previous to this?

2) At least he is admitting that Jehovah's Witnesses pedophiles ARE required to go door to door, accompanied by another Witness. However, Brown made no comment as to whether that particluar accompanying Witness would even be AWARE of the individuals' pedophilia. So that person accompanying the pedophile is going to be legally responsible for the peophile's behavior? HEY? The public at large isn't going to like THAT.

3) Brown has been quoted as saying: "Shunning works, look how many people come back to us." So here we have an admission that (a) they DO try to exert control, either directly or indirectly, over people NOT in their faith; and (b) 'those who simply cease to practice the faith' ARE shunned.

4) The 'confidentiality' of JW elders is a joke. They are required (I believe) to notify the presiding overseer, the circuit overseer, to write a letter and seal it in the congregations files (where it is more accessible than they will admit) and write a letter to Brooklyn containing the account of the pedophilia. This is NOT confientiality. I don't see HOW this translates to "we must keep things confidential and so we cannot report sexual abusers in our midst." Well, if you can report 'confidential matters' to people in friggin' Brooklyn who are not within reach of a pedophile, then you can report it in the community where the pedophile has access to JW and worldly children. If you can report when there is a reporting law, then you can report when there ISN'T.

IN OTHER WORDS, A CHILD IS WORTH MORE IN A REPORTING STATE THAN IN A NON-REPORTING STATE. THE VALUE OF A CHILD IS SET FOR JW'S BY THEIR COMMUNITY AND NOT BE JW'S THEMSELVES; Otherwise they would report in ALL reporting states, as a child's safety has the same value everywhere.

RIGHT?

5) Brown's quoted stements prove that the statement 'persons reporting abuse are not sanctioned'is a lie. It may be true that not all states are clergy-mandated reporting states; but ALL states have some clause or another that states in some form or another that 'ANYONE' may make a report. But we know that elders are TOLD not to report in these other states, or they can be punsihed as Bill is right now. 'So persons reporting abuse' ARE santioned by JW religious leaders.

OUT OF THEIR OWN MOUTHS MAY THEY BE CONDEMNED.

JR Brown is full of sh*t and he knows it.
I was witness for 29 yrs and an elder for many of those yrs. and never heard of this field service arrangement for Peds.

In fact as an elder in the Mira Mesa cong. of San Diego CA. we had 2 pedophiles and never was there any such instruction.

In fact they wanted to make one convicted Ped(spent time in prision at Susanville for molestation)a Ministerial servant.
I objected but a brother Campell who is now the PO and a Pyscholgist said that he was completly recovered and was safe to appoint. They could not make him one until I left and the very next CO vist after my leaving that congregation he was appointed.
So much for JR Brown and honesty.
