J.R. Brown, a national spokesman for the Jehovah's Witnesses, confirmed that the four had been called to the hearings, but he said the proceedings may focus on "sins" unrelated to public comments on sexual abuse. He provide no specifics.

This is now a 'public' issue. None of the four ever signed a secrecy clause in becoming a JW.
The combined issue of 'pedophilia & expulsion' practice just will not sit well with the public. Were back in days of the inquisition!

Unfotunately, the current brainwashed followers of the Watchtower will continue blindly accepting whatever fecal slime mother spits out at them. I do hope some can at least shake off the cult conditioing long enough to see through what utter nonsense and blatant lies are coming forth from the Watchtower over this whole episode.
Let's face it, though, the majority of JWs are not noted for critical thinking. Just look at the convenience of the "newbies" that posted nothing but personal attacks yesterday. It wouldn't surprise me a bit to dioscover every single one of them were bethelites.

I can't seem to get the link to work, so taking the words as a direct quote, I noticed the following: *he said the proceedings MAY focus on*.
Just a little 3 letter word (MAY) which neither confirms nor denies what the proceedings would focus on, but it puts the possibility into the mind of the undiscerning reader, that actually the proceedings are nothing to do with the child abuse issues, but something to do with another VERY EMOTIVE and JUDEGMENTAL little 3 letter word - *SIN*.
Now is J R Brown privy to the details of what the proceedings will focus on?
In whose judgement are the allegations termed *sins*? The WTBTS? The elders?
Have those who have been called to the proceedings been advised in advance of the *sins* that they have allegedly committed?
Had I received one of the letters sent to those who were summoned to the hearings (which did not refer to *sins* allegedly committed), then been disfellowshipped without any indication in advance of the hearing of what *sins* I was being accused and then read in the public press J R Brown's statement on behalf of the WTBTS that the proceedings *may* focus on my *sins*, I think that a *Defamation of Character* suit would now be in the pipeline in the UK!
Is there no right of appeal on the grounds of *denial of natural justice* as these 4 people have not been made aware of the allegations made against them, yet their alleged *sins* have been referred to in the national media by an official WTBTS spokesman.
Surely an organisation which perceives itself as the *channel of Jehovah's communication* and which sets itself apart, should hold to much higher procedural standards than does the secular judicial system? It should stand the test of public scrutiny in the rights given to those against whom accusations have been levelled. Any shortcomings in that respect bring overwhelming doubt on the *authority*, *credibility*, *justice* and *truth* of any leadership of any organisation, company etc and effects consequential damage to its leadership.
In reference to Psychdigg's comment on another thread: *Innocent until proven guilty. JW's don't have to prove they are innocent. Those who are doing the accusing have to prove guilt.* - this works both ways, surely?
How have the Pandelos, for example, been proven guilty of *sins* when they were not notified of the alleged *sins* of which they were accused, nor given the real opportunity to provide witnesses in their behalf, nor allowed to have legal representation?
Can you explain for an observer here please Psychdigg, how those accusing these people have proven their guilt?
What knowledge do you have of the *sins* which they have allegedly committed?
Can you indicate how these people have been proven guilty by their accusers, because I frankly have no idea!
I am sure that there are many many Jehovah's Witnesses who abhor child abuse. Problems within the Catholic Church have brought this subject to the fore. The whole issue of child abuse needs media attention in order to get the message home both to victims and potential/actual abusers that Joe Public will no longer allow this activity to be kept hidden. It must be shown up for the diabolical activity that it is - RAPE of MINORS - with all the emotional and actual physical harm which it causes. Children need to be warned; adults need to be vigilant; communication and reporting must be encouraged within homes, schools, organisations. Policies must be in place wherever children are present - again in families, schools and organisations. Children who have suffered need emotional support and counselling. Abusers need to be protected from themselves and not sanctioned to access other potential victims. Most reports suggest that it is very difficult for abusers to stop the activity; if this is true, then they need to have all access to potential victims supervised or denied. Abusers will be found wherever they can gain access to children. In groups where the highest motives are always attributed to everybody, it is sad to say, abusers can have a field day.
The WTBTS, like a number of other organisations, needs to get its act together imo. Outlets for this abhorrent activity need to be closed - and not allowed to be by-passed - and never re-opened!

I'm always open to views. All I have ever asked from the elders and org. was 'help' and I never got it. I have letters to prove it.

I should think that you and others I deliberately didn't name would be appalled that pedophiles have been given safe harbor within the Kingdumb Hells for so long. But no, ya'll come and attack, under the guise of simply asking questions, a decent man who felt strong enough about the misguided policies to attempt to do something positive about them.
May I inquire why it has taken a good year or more to picque your curosity to ask these "questions" and only since the public scandal has been unfolding in the National Press painting the picture of the Witchtower being just as, if not moreso, corrupt and vile as any other religion, DEAR?
