I definitely agree. Although I am still on my way out, I feel free to be as compassionate as I always wanted to, without the straitjacket of the religion telling me to avoid worldly people and shun charity work. I don't yet have the opportunity to act on this very much, but I already feel more connected to other people and am looking forward to being able to do something genuinely helpful for others for a change.
