I was in church yesterday and I was praying that we could move. My hubs is desperate to move back to where he grew up and where I was living also, when we met. I love it there too.

Anyway, he applied for a lecturer's job at a college last week. He had a phone call today inviting him for an interview.

I'm kind of in shock. When we left 10 years ago, I was so upset after. I have wanted to move back ever since.

This coincides with my hubby meeting up with his family (Dad's side) after 20 years. They were estranged due to his mother. Another story.

    I am so excited.

I am so grateful that "someone" up there heard our prayers.

I hope things proceed as you and your husband wish.

[It helps your prayer along, that your husband's action (applying for a job in the desired locale), preceded your expression of faith (prayer). ]

I don't think it was God at all! I think it was the fact that your husband's resume or curriculum vitae distinguishes him from other candidates and they want to get a closer look. If anything, I would suggest you tell your husband how thankful you are that he has worked so hard and is considered to be the caliber of person that they might want to hire. By doing that, your regard, respect and love for your husband are greatly expanded. It will add to your relationship.

To attribute to God those things that are inherently of Man is to minimize the suffering of a mother that prays for food as her child's belly expands from its want.

    Just a thought,

Hey, SOP.I know what you say is true.I am soooo proud of him!!!we are going out tonight for our anniversary, with our son, so it will be a really great family time.I shall sing his praises, no end, trust me!!!

You cannot expect stuff to land in your lap without action, I agree.

    Thanks for everyone's good wishes.

Congratlations, I wish hubby all the best on his interview. Personally, I don't think God answers anyones prayers, I am speaking from personal experience and world disasters perspective.

But if you think God played a part then don't let me take that from you. Kate xx

You wanted to move. You submitted resumes and because you are smart and worth hiring you are interviewing.

If you had woken up to money in the bank you didn't have before and plane tickets on the dresser magically appearing over night, then maybe it's god. Dont sell your hard work and what YOU do short. Be glad you wanted to accomplish something and that YOU are making it happen!

Congrats! Especially about getting to know estranged family.

I was born to live in Manhattan, Paris, or London. B/c of illness, I had to move near my sister in the Mennonite area of PA. I could commute to Manhattan but I was so exhausted by the time I arrived I could not visit much. Every time I prepared to leave Manhattan, I feared that I would be arrested for illegally entering my home of 30 years. I had a speech prepared for the NYPD.

I recently moved back to the NY area. My commute to almost any part of Manhattan is half an hour. I used to visit Philadelphia, a two and one half area commute. Walking down the street, vocabulary words expanded. Students were discussing ideas. Most of the people in the Center City area were doing the same. My apartment complex would go out for dinner once a month. They could not discuss a single book or even TV. Grocery store prices were the hot topics. There was an artsy town near us. I asked if we could attend a free jazz performance at a restaurant. I was severely rebuked. Why would I want to ruin a good thing. I noted that we could order appetizers rather than a dinner entree to save money. Well, it was abundantly clear that they did not like live music or music.

I thought about writing a TV sitcom based on me. Show respect for the characters. Culture clash.

I resigned myself to never being in Manhattan strolling again. Somehow I did Craigslist and a whole bunch of lists. I rented a hotel so I would not be exhausted.

I am doing my favorite Manhattan things. It would be there hell. It is my heaven.

I felt the same living in Colorado, it was never home to me, as nice as it was. Then my husband's job location changed and he would no longer be able to take a bus to work. My husband has bad vision, so driving that far with Colorado weather conditions was a non starter. We thought about moving to make the commute easier, but it was crazy expensive, and the only good thing about Colorado, for me, was the small town we lived in, I had zero interest in moving to Denver. So he applied for a job in California, he thought he had it, but they offered it to someone else. Then, two months later, they called and gave it to him, the other guy didn't pass the background check. And it paid full relocation. I had not prayed, but I had wished for this with every fiber of my being.

So, who should I thank for that?

Everyone thought we were crazy to move to California (It's crowded and expensive!). At times we thought we were crazy too, as SF bay area real estate is very, very expensive. We looked at every community, and finally found a small town we liked that had been hit badly by the recession. We found a short sale, it took six months, but it was the perfect house, at the perfect price, and we couldn't be happier. We are loving all the great things there are to do here, the weather is perfect, mostly in the sixties and seventies all year.
