Jehovahs Witnesses make a big deal about following first century christianity, so please explain this.

I read some historical Jesus book recently. It said he would have had access to only a small amount of material in the OT. Basically, the Torah, the Psalms, and the major Prophets. It makes sense. I can't recall the details. Perhaps it was the book that Borg and N.T. Wright wrote. Paul's genuine letters always reference some dispute about his authority.

The WTs are self-validating. I don't understand why people are so gullible.

Early Christians identified themselves as Christians, not Jehovah's Witnesses

They were allowed to question and debate

They did not obey and follow any self proclaimed "governing body"

They were allowed to get whatever medical care was available at the time.

They were not told they couldn't celebrate birthdays or the birth of Jesus.

They were allowed to drink the wine and eat the bread.

Men were allowed to wear beards.

Women were not told they had to wear pantyhose.

There is no mention of children being baptized.

The WT is mandating pantyhose? Socks work. Oh, you have to wear a dress or skirt. Tights are a nice fashion option. They are far worse than the Roman Catholic Church.

This is off-topic a bit but it reminds me of WT reasoning. Before I left, we heard a convention speech about women serving food. They warned not to serve only white colored food. For instance, chicken and potatoes or noodles would be wrong. You might be able to cure the defect with parsley. They would talk about food with such passion. I would try so hard not to laugh out loud. Which was funnier, the admonition on food as opposed to salvation and grace or the Witnesses applauding such advice.

Jesus/Michael came to earth so women could wear pantyhose. Is there a preferred sanitary napkin brand?

As an outsider, I'm going to venture to guess that the preferred brand of the GB would be "Always."

"Stayfree" would have to be an apostate-endorsed brand.

jgnat Pliny the Younger's description of Christians.

That just goes to emphasize early christians were not persecuted because they were jehovahs witnesses , they were persecuted because they were witness of Jesus Christ.
