Hmm! The creative day problem. In the past it was simple. 6,000 years since the creation of man + 1,000 years of Christ's reign post apocalypse, 7,000 years for a creative day x 7 = 49,000 years, bish, bash bosh. The job's a good 'un.

Now err err what now? The 6000 years are fixed. There is bible chronology. lots of people with cheap eye-glasses and weak chins spent ages working it all out and writing it down.

Imagine the GB meeting (please note, not gb)

Oh dear! Can we have one 7000 year creative day and some others er what, 500 million years long? No? Well let's fudge it, let's be vague try this: "each of the six creative days could have lasted for millions of years". No they'll never wear that, I can't get up on the platform and say that. What about "each of the six creative days could have lasted for a million of years or more". Hmmm! thats just as bad lets just say "each of the six creative days could have lasted for thousands of years", i mean 500 million is lots of thousands of years isn't it so it's not a lie is it? We'll go with that, they'll never notice. We did it with the generation after all, OK. That's a wrap.

So the creative days could have lasted thousands of years, but what about millions or billions?

Millions of years are thousands too

I don't believe the Society has any problem with the idea that the days are millions of years long, or that the Earth is 4.5 billion years old and was formed after a Big Bang. I say that knowing what some of the top brothers at Bethel believe on this subject, and assuming that the rest of them do not strongly disagree or else there would be pressure not to talk about these things at the meetings.

Interesting how they refer to a "canopy of vapor", which could simply be the cloud layer. I don't think they've referred to the old-fashioned canopy (that became the Flood) in many years.

There are many who refer to this "expanse" as the cause for the flood....like hollywoodnright? God just turned off the button and down it came.

Yep. I'm sure that the Society knows just how scientifically problematic the old-school "canopy" is, so they know better than to openly bring it up. That's why my eyebrow raised when I saw the mention of a "canopy of vapor" -- which, after all, is something we do have above us. A canopy of solid water, on the other hand, is something they haven't mentioned in ages.

the earth was not created "in the beginning", but 9 billion years later, and on the vert RARE "plus for the bible" side:

In an intense gravity environment, like the white hole that was the big bang , stuff is SEEN to move slower through time, so a day of viewing would be billions of years at the location. ( ideas picked from a book on "the science of God.").

So, prologos do unfeel the bible is wrong? Or perhaps its writer moses is misinformed?

The early bble writers were trying their best to figure it out, as we are today. They were wrong by our standards, and that PROVES that the creator or jis supposed helper, wisdom did NOT inspire, or correct them, nor the supposed HELPER that did not help to get the writing right in our era.

Moses did well, but he missed lot of information that would have been available to a truly advanced mind.

I liked : thou shalt not covet your neighbour's wife. a compliment* if you married the trophy. the untold story of creation, the gorgeous creatures.

    * and reason to 'call for action' if you'r in an org that subscribes to that dogma.

I think the account of Creation in Genesis is given in 6 + 1 days only to justify two things:

    a) Why the week is divided in 7 days; and

    b) Why the sabbath is supposed to be a day of rest (= because God also rested on the 7th day)

That's all there is to it.

I'm not saying that the natural world isn't the product of at least some form of creative work; but just not in the way is portrayed in Genesis.

The infinity symbol is a well-recognized symbol of the occult, frequently used in Tarot decks. Perhaps you have seen the image of a snake eating its own tale. There is some significance to the 13 stars also. I'm not into it, but recently saw a commentary on their use of this image:
