My understanding is that religious organizations (churches) don't have to report so much, but I thought that religious charities (salvation army stores, the income producing enterprises of religious groups do. Does the SBC have to report? How about Lifeway (their publishing arm)? The WT has made a big stink to separate the religion from the publishing arm hasnt it? Should the publishing arm legitimately NOT be required to report in this instance? Any tax lawyers or lawyers with some info to inform us about this? I have been wondering of late how that all works.

To be honest I have wondered that myself. How can an organization that is clearly running schemes that generate profit e.g real estate flipping, approved hotels, international conventions, still keep its not for profit status. I think some of the tactics they employ as well (putting hunchoes out side to intimidate people not complying by staying in a not recommended hotel) is highly unethical. I wonder what an auditor would think if he knew of these methods been employed.
