It is because their leaders are all male chauvinist pigs, just as their idol Paul. Most of this hatred for women comes from that scumbag Paul, who reduce women to slaves. Paul also taught that homosexuality, between consenting parties, is a major sin and that fornication is the end of the world. Yet, they worship this "imperfect human"--seems they view all people as imperfect except the fictitious Jesus. Yet, they claim to not engage in idolatry?

And what about their other idol? You know, Tyrant David? That thing that never saw a Gentile it did not want dead? That thing would defend its enemies, as long as such were from within Israel, yet any Gentiles are not supposed to have any right to live. Proud of killing tens of thousands of innnocent Gentile foreigners, this monster is idolized by the Washtowel Babble and Crap Slaveholdery. Again, where is their allegience to their own rule against idolatry? Why disfellowship people for celebrating Christmas on the grounds of worshiping the sun? How many women-hating teachings did the sun spawn? How much hate speech against everyone on the grounds of not worshiping its own god did the sun generate, backed by slaughtering people for not worshiping that thing?

To compare, Satan has many Demonesses. Astaroth is one of the top Demons--female. Go figure.

Blondie, you forgot about an influential female author: Miss Ann Eliza Brainerd, later known as Mrs. J. G. Smith, who wrote the novel Seola published in 1878. Her book was highly regarded by Watchtower President Charles Taze Russell. When it was revised and published in 1924 under the name Angels and Women, it was promoted by Watchtower Society President Joseph Franklin Rutherford. More recently, Angels and Women has been endorsed by Governing Body member Samuel Herd.

Who knows just how much of the earlier writing of the Watchtower literature was influenced by Mrs. Smith’s book. It’s interesting that President Russell thought that Jehovah God actually resides in the Pleiades, or Seven Sisters. Perhaps there is more influence of women in the Watchtower’s history than they would care to divulge.

I think this is a great post . I am not a woman . I am a Man. However I do think women have been given the short end of the stick in history , and much of the blame is because of male dominated religion . And while we are more concerned here , about women in the WT world , it is certainly a bigger problem in the much wider world. I hope more women come on board with this subject and speak out

. Women can be anointed to rule as kings with Jesus in heaven as immortal spirit creatures. They just can't read the Watchtower on Sundays while they're still here on Earth. Excellent point........... And as far as Jw`s are concerned , they are confined to the preaching work , door to door , cleaning toilets and the K.H. , and being subservient to the brothers in the K.H. hall , and especially to their spouses .

Their are twenty women that Blondie mentions whose exploits were worth mentioning and documented in the "Holy Bible " by Gods holy spirit and preserved down to our day. Doesnt that count for anything ? The bigger question is how much should it count for.?

This is your chance girls let your voice be heard ! Speak out loud and clear .

I look forward to more comments

Strangely , I have just sat through a reading about Abigail from the "Follow their Example " book . The sister doing the reading had prepared a talk for the cong (along with another sister ) pointing out that this gives wives whose husbands are not studies and are not keen on them going to meetings permission to disobey their husbands and obey the GB !!??

Marvelous how any example can be turned to the advantage of the Watchtower .

From my experience all intelligent women are hated in that religion. I was made to feel that I was disgusting every time I opened my mouth. They seem to equate having a brain with being something akin to a prostitute. It took many years after leaving for me to stop hiding my intelligence, it had become such a habit out of sheer self preservation.

In modern JW life, there is not one notable female that has done anything. . . unless we count the tennis playing sisters and I don't believe they are actually baptised. In any case, they provide no spiritual leadership of any kind. Its a notable deficiency as we are celebrating international womens day. . . if any JWs come by, ask them what women in the religion are spiritual leaders and inspire the masses to excellence?

I was at a gathering yesterday that was inspiring. The little girl who was shot by the Taliban in Pakistan was highlighted and celebrated a bit-along with all kinds of women who are less 'noted' but have some serious good marks along with their names for their charity or insights. It was inspiring for the little girls and the women in attendance. And I was so pleased to see how most had their husbands/fathers with them-learning the same things!!

I did a display a few years ago, JWdaughter, at the library where I work, for International Women's Day. It included :-

Rosalind Franklin, the unsung hero who also discovered the double helix of DNA.

Emily Hobhouse who worked tirelessly to draw attention to and improve conditions in the British built concentration camps in South Africa during the Boer War.

Eglantyne Jebb who founded Save the Children in 1919 because of the children starving in Europe after WW1.

Marie Curie who won two Nobel prizes, one in 1903 with her husband for Physics and one in 1911 for Chemistry for her discovery of radium. She was the first person to win two Nobels and remains still one of only two people to have done this in two different fields

We noticed that many men would stand looking at the display for a long time. We couldn't tell if it was admiration or disbelief.
