  All slopes come to abrupt ends. And I thought a certain horde of vulgar regulars on this site hit bottom recently. The slope seemed to abruptly end. They went hurling into what seemed like a dark abyss.

  Then I heard splash after splash, and the echoes from their vulgarities seem even louder than before.

  A new topic filled with obscenities using the Watchtower's web site is appalling and disgraceful.

  To a certain horde of regulars, I'm appalled at your behavior considering the harsh criticism you have given to "Fred Hall" and "You Know" and other rogue JWs!

  You seem to want it both ways, and lack any discipline to set an example for those you are trying to persuade.

  Why should any JWs "wake up and smell the coffee" when they're smelling a stale pot of tar that once smelled fresh, but has long since been simmering on an open burner for many years?

  I'll take the much maligned "Moddy 14" over topics like that any day! The intended audience of this site, let alone the average person on the Internet in general, will grow very wearisome of patently vulgar topics like the parsing of watchtower.org!

  Rick, please correct your statement. This is an OLD THREAD, started almost exactly three months ago.

  Someone resurrected it by posting to it, and so it floated to the top. (No bad jokes here please.)

  So that illustrates how things were in February. This is the month of May. The board recently has been quite involved with the scandal of the child-abuse coverup by the WT Society taking aim at whistleblowers like Bowen, Anderson and the Pandelos.

  So why take one poor OLD thread and hold it up as an example to discredit the good turn this board has recently taken?

  No doubt. He wasn't "maligned" without good reason, Rick and you know it.

  One of your problems is that you think that somehow adults should be protected from your so-called "vulgarities." I'm 54 Rick, and guess what? When I was in elementary school in the 1950's I heard EVERY SINGLE ONE of the vulgarities extant today, and I heard them every day. Moreover, that was in Salt Lake City, Utah, the bastion of Christian purity.

  It's thought and expression police like you that drove many of us out of the WTS. You will never be free of Watchtowerism until you can learn to live and let live without yapping that others who use "vulgarities" are offending yours or someone else's sensibilities.

  As a dub, I also heard tons of dubs say every curse word I've ever heard. That included Elders, COs, pioneers, Elderetts(tm) and grade-school children. Do you think that dubs who are lurking here don't know and even use those kinds of words? If you do you, are living in a vacuum.

  That's the fucking truth, Rick. Live with it.

  Gopher: I agree wholeheartedly with your assesment of the thread to which Derrick is referring.

  It is an "old thread" depicting the "flavour of February" and I am so glad to see someone else recongnize and appreciate the "good turn this board has recently taken".

  I see this site as having such a strong potential for accomplishing alot of good in exposing the hypocrisy, errors and lies of the WTS. I take such pleasure in seeing it as a thorn in the WTS side.

  For the many here that still have family trapped in the grips of the WTS, this site is a potential "de-programmer" if it is allowed to live up to, and do that job. It is truly disheartening to see it stoop to the depths, we who leave the WTS, are accused of by the WTS.

  I hope, (and I know I am not alone in this feeling), that we can continue to keep up the calibre of dignity that is shouting out of so many of the posts right now. I am constantly amazed and so impressed at the level of intelligence, logic, knowledege and human compassion that does come out at times like these.

  Isn't this where we excel over and above the WTS? Can't we keep this "good turn", as Gopher calls it, going and still have some fun without turning into something that turns away potential "defectors"?

  Actually, I thik Derrick has a point. I don't care much for the thread which I've now locked (compromise between deleting) and much have missed the first time round.

  While things like that are sometimes amusing they are more than a little off putting for visitors ("see ... the WT was right about those apostates") and makes it difficult to pull other poster up for using bad language in their posts when they can just point to other times where it's been 'allowed'

  what about creating a forum that you have to sign-in to. That would keep the cry-babies and other sensitive ones from getting their lil 'ol consciences seared from our heathen talk.

  Sometimes you yourself like to get a little 'randy', so it might be worth it? Maybe make the "adult" forum a type of sign-in forum?
