ES 2014- Tuesday, February 4
God is not partial.—Acts 10:34. In a selfish and nationalistic world, it is refreshing to find individuals who can and do look beyond national borders. The founder of the television network CNN, Ted Turner, comments about his work with a number of talented individuals from various nations: “I came to see those from other countries not as ‘foreigners,’ but as fellow citizens of the planet.” In lands around the globe, only Jehovah’s Witnesses have adopted God’s way of thinking as a group. By learning to see things as Jehovah does, they have been able mentally and emotionally to break down national barriers. Instead of treating members of differing national groups with distrust, suspicion, or even outright hatred, they have learned to cherish the variety of characteristics and abilities of these groups as something beautiful. Have you reflected on this accomplishment and how it has benefited you personally in dealing with others? w12 12/15 4:2, 14, 15
Who is this refreshing individual, Ted turner???
Robert Edward "Ted" Turner III (born November 19, 1938 [2] ) is an American media mogul and philanthropist. As a businessman, he is known as founder of the cable news network CNN, the first 24-hour cable news channel. In addition, he founded WTBS, which pioneered the superstation concept in cable television. As a philanthropist, he is known for his $1 billion gift to support the United Nations, which created the United Nations Foundation, a public charity to broaden support for the UN. Turner serves as Chairman of the United Nations Foundation board of directors. [3]

As previously posted, the JWorg was expected to have some articles promoting the UN. In this case from 1991 to 2001.
So by comparing the Awakes before 1991, then those 10 years, then 2001 to current there should be a noticable trend of pro-UN articles duing that 10 year period. It would be needed to abide by the NGO requirement.

EndofMysteries
In the letter they say some brothers are working for the united nations, they bring out how they do humanitarian things and those activities don't violate christian neutrality.
In that case, joining the YMCA to just do some workouts doesn't violate neutrality, or helping other churches with humanitarian projects, etc.
They demonize anybody else for those things but it's okay for them to do it? The pot calling the kettle black.

@ Dismissing Servant: There was something in it for them. But what?
.
The answer to your question is what Finkelstein posted earlier:
Finkelstein: Did the WTS. join this organization to use a specific library of sorts ? no they joined to utilize the organization toward in helping
establishing themselves in countries where they been having problems in doing so.
.
What this means is WT became an NGO for exactly the same reason as the religions they routinely condemn: it was to WT's political/religious/self-serving advantage to get in bed with the UN and the OSCE in order to receive favors from these same entities. They could not receive these favors without NGO status. So why is it wrong for the Catholic Church to do it and not WT????
.
Again, WT'sexplanations fall flat based on WT's own rhetoric. Even if they became an NGO only to promote "kingdom interests" (that is, Watchtower Corporation interests), WT still cannot justify an alliance with the UN or the OSCE. According to WT, are these two political-military organizations working for Jehovah's Kingdom™ or for Satan's system opposed to Jehovah's Kingdom™? WT clearly states they are opposed to god and will be destroyed. So how can ANY alliance be justified??? It cannot. Where is WTs fallback position of "waiting on Jehovah"? Do they lack faith that their god Jehovah™ can help them, so they need to curry favor with Satan's world in order to move ahead? Apparently so.

“In joining the YMCA as a member a person accepts or endorses the general objectives and principles of the organization. He is not simply paying for something he receives, such as when buying things being sold to the public at a store. (Compare 1 Corinthians 8:10; 10:25.) Nor is his membership merely an entry pass, as when a person buys a theater ticket. Membership means that one has become an integral part of this organization founded with definite religious objectives, including the promotion of interfaith. Hence, for one of Jehovah’s Witnesses to become a member of such a so-called “Christian” association would amount to apostasy. Some individuals have on occasion not become members but have paid a onetime admission fee, viewing this as simply paying for a commercial service available. Even in this regard it is wise to consider whether this course will adversely affect the consciences of others. —1 Cor. 8:11-13.” Watchtower 1979 January 1st.

Finkelstein
The WTS. is a deviously devised religious organization that creates its own controlling doctrines to subdue, choral and manipulate its followers to
restrain these people to only support the operations of the Watchtower Corporation itself.
The manipulation is created by inducing the thought process of their organization is the only one god approves and directs and its in the populations
best interest to follow exactly to their expressed controlling directives.
.
Although this doesn't necessarily mean they themselves have to abide to those directives,
especially if their actions are secretly concealed from the body of members.
There is corruption in this organization and most of it is centered at the top controlling few.

UN informed
The WT condemned the UN since it's inception in 1945, and they continued to condemn it in the harshest ways throughout my early years as a Witness.
They also condemned as apostate religions that were NGOs as late as 1989, probably during the time they were working on their own application.
i think the reaction that I had was exacerbated by the fact that I passed up a Coast Guard Academy education (I had the official appointment) in 1964 and then also because of the WT stance (then) on neutrality I ended up in prison for two years. Neutrality was required of me, but not them. I am sure that my life's path was made much more difficult because of my sacrificial stand on neutrality, while the organization that REQUIRED my neutrality felt very free to violate their own teaching under the guise of needing a library card. What a lie.
what proves it a lie is that they did this and continue to do it in the dark. If it was such a good thing, why not let some light shine in?
Thanks for reading,
