Double standard of JWs

JWs shun many practices like birthday citing their pagan/evil-spirit connection. If they are honest with their claim, they wil have to leave this world altogether:

    1) In their Bethels, brothers should compulsorily wear a neck-tie, which is actually a phallic symbol!

    2) Many scientists, like Thomas Edison, are on record saying they made their great inventions when they emptied their mind of all thoughts and were in a meditative state, thus connected to the universal consciousness. Yet JWs teach that when one empties his mind of all thoughts, he invites evil spirits ….. bla bla bla … Yet JWs have no problem using electric lamps and other comforts the scientists have given us!!!

There is actually ZERO proof for these evil spirits to enter uour mind--heres why:

JWs say that demons CANNOT read your thoughts! But only see what u view or what seems to affect u and try to present such things to you....somehow....invisibly. Thats a huge screw up IMO

While I agree with you about the inconsistencies, the site about Thomas Edison is the writers opinion on a story about Edison that may or may not even be true.

I believe Edison used his naps to tap into the wisdom of his intuition. He used these "naps" to tap into the mind of God.

I have heard that phenomenon referred to as image streaming. It happens to me all the time even when I'm awake. I just have to close my eyes and pay attention. The closest I can compare them to is an animated gif. None of mine seem particularly useful. Guess I'll have to pay attenion more when it happens.

Here is a site i found on the subject.

I have often wondered if that is where hallucinations come from when you are on hallucinogenic drugs.

I had some dubbies remove me as a friend of their face book because I no longer go to the meetings, and yet these same people had no problem keeping relatives as friends on their face book even though they also no longer go to meetings as well. Obviously what is good for the goose is not good for the gander.

When they were crafting WT theology, I doubt Rutherford or Franz ever imagined the wealth of historical information that would be uncovered just in the late 20th and early 21st Centuries (they certainly wouldn't have thought "This Old World" would last long enough to refute or disprove their ideas).

Our picture of the past is much, much clearer now than it was 100 years ago, and many historians have concluded that if one goes back far enough, virtually everything (even f**king baptism) has its origin in what we would define as pagan or semi-pagan customs.

I suspect it's one of the reasons the WT hardly ever plays the "pagan origin" card anymore (on the rare occasion they're taken to task for the things they forbid).

It is virtually impossible to eliminate all pagan symbols, since everything Judaism, Christi-SCAM-ity, and Islam has is stolen from such sources. That means the Star of David, the cross, and that crescent moon are all originally pagan symbols. Even that REJECT Astaroth party they have is stolen from the pagans. You see, this represents the last supper the [fictitious] Jesus had with his 12 [fictitious] disciples. This was stolen from the sun (which Jesus is supposed to represent) having 12 followers (the signs of the Zodiac, represented by the disciples or apostles). Yet, they continue holding this wasteful event in dishonor of Astaroth each year while observing the pagan custom representing the sun and the signs of the Zodiac.

And ties are worse than that. They are supposed to be phallic symbols, yet they are supposed to be kept clean (preventing children from having any fun while wearing them, lest they get dirty and have to be dry "cleaned(??)". The whole thing is designed to suppress any real spirituality, or having any fun. I know I never enjoyed wearing a damn tie. Were it up to me, the concept of wearing ties would be placed in the rubbish, and not because of phallic connections. Ties are perhaps the greatest waste of cloth I have ever seen. They do not keep one warm as a scarf would. They do not hide parts of the anatomy that xians insist be hidden. They provide no safety--in fact, a tie could get caught and create a safety hazard--unlike items like knee pads which do protect the knees. They are always in the way, they require restraints to keep them out of your soup, and they are difficult to tie properly so they do not look sloppy. To me, ties are among the greatest wastes of clothing--most need dry "cleaning(??)", to boot.

It is almost tautological to talk about JWs and double standards there are so many.

My absolute favourite is the way they encourage people of other faiths to question the teaching of those faiths when they are trying to get them to become Witnesses but once they become Witnesses will not allow them to question their teachings.

"We are The Truth but don't you dare test the veracity of The Truth!"

    Oh, hell, yeah...

That is, hands down, without a doubt, the most egregious one by far.

I like how my uber edler cousin can justify in his own mind traveling and socializing with his very inactive sister and her husband who is a deacon in the local Anglican church. Seems to me that's a "bad association" but of course no consequences ever happen to him.
