The Preaching Work ,Fred and the WTS 'Batting Slump'

In a thread below, Fred, in a quite Daniellesque manner, sought to detract from Ray Franz's credibility because Ray did not promote the WTS' preaching activity.

Firstly I have to say that Fred is not in the easiest position. He is a WTS apologist of sorts and whereas he might have some support on some other boards like Great Crowd or WOL where his non-sequitors would go quite undetected, he finds it hard going here. But to his credit , he is trying…..very trying.

After all, it must be like being a Cubs fan in the bad old days when the fans would go to games with bags on their heads with cut out eyes. The WTS batting average is a solid, consistent,……0.0000 with many, many at-bats. Failed prophecy after failed prophecy, spawning more 'clarifications' as time goes on.

So the question is to what extent should one publicise the miserable situation, i.e. preach the word. Granted there is scriptural evidence that the first Century Christians preached, but they knew what they were preaching. There is evidence that the R+F do not. Ask any to explain the new generation teaching, for example. Granted also that the WTS has adopted Gods name, and without prejudice to any arguments in that regard, does it mean that God has adopted them? History answers that question.

So far as the preaching work is concerned, it is double-edged.
    *** Rbi8 James 3:1 ***
3 Not many of YOU should become teachers, my brothers, knowing that we shall receive heavier judgment.

What happens if you preach inaccuracies and falsehoods? You would want to make sure for yourself that anything you preached was true so that you did not mislead any.

It is more than likely too late for the WTS. They would benefit from not preaching until they got their house in order. So it might be better Fred that next time you went out in Field service that you put a paper bag on your head with cutty-out eyes. Maybe if enough did it the WTS might get the point.

I couldn't agree with you more, ISP, now is the time for the WTBS to do as Coolhand Luke was advised to do in the movie of the same name. "Lay low and build time." Hnmmmm, only they would misunderstand the build time part. As long as the only people they talk to are disinterested and noninformed householders who just want to shut the door then they might do alright, but if they happen up on the house of someone familiar with what they believe and have believed and with the changes and disorder prevalent in the last few years, well, time for that strategic withdrawal. "No sir, I can't explain just where we are in regards to the 7000 year creative day, uh, yeah, well, I never heard about naming any animals but we might be in that time period, no, I didn't know about changes in the Disgusting Thing, what Disgusting Thing? No not that or seperating the sheep and goats and uh, listen I was homeschooled I would rather not talk about ice ages and stuff like that ok? Tacking? You mean like on a bulletin board?? Beth Sarim??? No, uh, we have only had one Faithful and Discreet Slave, oh yeah, Russell huh??? Are you sure, oh you got that in print huh, well, uh, A pyramid??? On his grave??? I hardly think he would have, well, sure enough, that's it huh??? Maybe, but uh, I , I think I heard a horn, my car group is calling me, no, I can't come back as I am booked and no I don't know anything about where the Great Crowd is serving, never heard of which part of the temple...no, never heard of Naos, what's that? You want to talk about dates, lengths of generations?!? I really need to go. Sure, I'll be back one day, maybe, no you can't call me. Bye, I'm gone!!! No, not cow's blood or any other kind!!! .....sound of an engine.
Used to be I would have some come to the door. It was kind of hard to wait for them to knock and then hard to talk for salivating so. They haven't been back in years. My neighbors have had to put signs on their doors, primitive signs, "No Jehovah's Please" and hear I sit eager, and never get a knock. Or even old used magazines like I used to get. Its like I am MARKED or something! The last one I had got all confused and so I suggested he call his friends in for help, and they sat their all twisted up like pretzels 'till they could make a good escape, and haven't been back. Arrogance and ignorance don't play well together. They think they know so much, when in fact they know so little. They get nervous after a while, wondering what else you are about to tell them they believe or have believed that they don't know about. It would be comical if it weren't so sad. Preaching the same thing all around the world is hardly something to brag about when it is wrong, and when you, the man in front, don't understand what you are teaching or where you got it. The hard part from our point of view is setting our phasers for just stun. It is hard to lightly tap when you are carrying a sledgehammer.

    Grunt,

I loved that last post - laughed all the way through it. I've dreamed of having one of those conversations, but I think our house is marked. Although we moved here with no local record, I think someone sent info. here. They work the street, but bypass our house.
When I worked out of town, they used to stop where I was staying. One time I saw them come down the street and I was ready. However, a sweet little old lady came to the door and I just couldn't go after her. Another time a young yuppie type came, and I would have loved to have tangled with him, but he had a seven year old child with him and, again, I just couldn't go for the jugular. Maybe, sometime I'll have my chance.

    U R ONE SICK PUPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!

but i love it - we are here rolling on the floor-

what you have said is so true - the moment a jw out in service is faced with any domga issues

they become like a slug with salt poured on them

as you mention it is almost "funny" , but for the fact that you know this guy with his wife and daughter has given up his pension,

not set aside a dime for his old age - THE END SO CLOSE-and despite the fact that his kid is a straight "A" student IN SCHOOL would kick her out of the house if she asked can i stay here while going to MED school instead of pioneering

that is what makes it so sad

    great post

    points on the money

Hey Grunt that was comprehensive! And a good reminder as to why Ray's
book was so well named. He had a conscience and he wasn't going to perpetuate falsehood. But those preaching would do well to consider theirconscience as to how they can continue to preach such stuff.

LOL! Thanks for a great post Grunt. Just remember if A Jehovah's Witness can't explain it from the reasoning book it's either apostate or demonized! Has to be one of the two, as all their reasoning is 100% accurate <NOT!>

    Brilliant Grunt,

***Arrogance and ignorance don't play well together. They think they know so much, when in fact they know so little. ***

After having a real good chuckel over your doorstep conversation(?)or should I say debacle with the witness, the above statement stood out as the reality of trying to reason with Jdubs.

Another poster today mentioned the extreme bigotry and intolerance JW's display. They are quick to pass judgement on anyone not immediately succumbing to their way. Just their manner of bible study, reflects such..."mr. householder please read this fine paragraph from this fine publication, then I will read this fine question at the bottom of the page, then you will give the correct answer from the fine material presented here...then we will look up this verse in the Bible, then we will disect that verse into a phrase or two that will show you beyond a shadow of a doubt, that what we are teaching you is THE TRUTH"

And all have a fine time indeed. Good lord...they are indeed filled with arrogance and ignorance. You hit right square Grunt!

Is it any wonder that they can't give an inch...they would surely have to change their entire approach. Won't ever happen....to bad they will not see themselves as other's surely do. No wonder circuit assemblies now reporting 1,2,3, 0 candidates for baptisim.

    Enjoyed this.

    Grunt,
I found myself laughing out loud as well. These poor brothers and sisters had just better be glad you have settled down some in your middle age. I knew you in a time of your life when you would have put them on the floor and walked around them daring them to get up, all the while telling them how things really are! You know, we have talked about going in "field service" on a Saturday morning one day, just to find a car group of JWs who we could discuss religion with...I think that would be a fun way to spend a Saturday morning...lets plan on actually doing it this summer.

    Danny,

Now I am laughing at your description of the Bible study. It made me think: Maybe it's a good thing that JWs are told to stay off the internet. If they got on there, they would try to underline important sentences on their computer screens.
