  It does not matter if the Governing Body members truly believe...so does the Pope.

  It does not matter if they are tweaking teachings here and there...the Catholic Church does the same.

  It does not matter what they believe or do. Why?

  Because they are HYPOCRITES who would rather back a lie than tell the truth.

  Because they are MANIPULATORS who will twist scripture to get their way.

  Because they are LIARS who claim to be what they are not.

  Because they epitomize the SCRIBES AND PHARISEES of the first century whose hearts were corrupted with their own image of greatness.

  Because they have made themselves into a god of brick and stone calling the works of men THE ORGANIZATION which must be obeyed as God himself.

  Twisted men who look in the mirror and see God himself.

  I think one thing that's often forgotten or overlooked, however, is the fact that members of the Governing Body who've been "in the truth" for 30, 40, 50, 60 years, probably truly believe in this Organization. In my opinion, it's more likely that they believe what they teach instead of being liars who are intentionally deceiving everyone. I think we would've seen many different-looking things happen if the Society is simply lying and trying to make themselves look good.

  I disagree. I don't know whether the GB members are directly responsible, but some of the higher-ups are deliberately deceptive. JW publications are deceptive (think of the deceptive quoting practices). The org makes huge money on disaster relief, but doesn't reveal that and brags on itself as if it's so charitable. Consider the May broadcast. They make it seem as though they really need money when they shouldn't. They are building expensive RTOs (Regional Translation Offices) when they could get by with FEMA type trailers or a few extra desks and computers in an unused room since we're supposedly so near the end. Those are just a few of many examples.

  The org is ALWAYS bragging about itself and trying to make itself look good - ALWAYS.

  They would've totally abandoned the Blood Doctrine and 1914 before now if they didn't believe in it.

  What makes you say that? I don't think that's true. I think they'd love to abandon the blood doctrine, but can't because they've dug themselves in too deep with that one. Same with 1914. They've made too much of a big deal over it to abandon it now.

  I think they (not the current GB) knew 1914 was wrong when Carl Olof Jonsson wrote them about it some years ago, but they didn't/couldn't drop it because it was of their mainstay doctrines.

  I looked over the March 15 WT to get ready for next weeks meeting. I put it down is disgust, it's a GB ' We are the Anointed '( insert Queen song here ) stroke propaganda. I just want to go to the hall to learn about Jehovah, his Son and get bible based counsel and education. They make it all about themselves, bunch of glory seeking narcissists. Having come in on my own 15 years ago and being inactive last couple due to health and work reasons I now see a major shift where as we used to get into the odd article on the GB, now it's all about them. I'd be embarrassed to bring a study or 'worldly' friend along to a meeting. They've lost it and are attempting to regain the upper hand it seems. They really are convinced that they are ' IT '

  Implement even half of these things, and they wouldn't even BE Jehovah's Witnesses anymore.

  Cannot happen.

  Understand the nature of authoritarianism, cognitive dissonance, existential anxiety, double binds, etc., and you will understand how they can both believe they have the "truth", and lie to your face at the same time.

  Hint: It is all about self-preservation and fear, which by the way, proportionally speaking is what keeps all believers in suspended belief, despite evidence. The GB are just deeply invested in all of the dependencies on such belief.
