It was very cool. Of course, the dialouge during the love scenes sounds like it was stolen from Attack of the Killer Ants, or something like that. Frankly, even Bruckheimer could make a better, more subtle love scene, but overlooking that, the rest of the movie was awesome. Anyone who doesn't like it (such as my wife) don't care about the story. Hell, I've already seen it twice and am going to see it three more times before the end of the weekend.

Oh, wait, I'm already married.
AND SHE LIKED IT!

I tried, I honestly tried to like this movie. But when the ending credits rolled, the entire theatre kinda stared at the screen with this look on their face like 'oh my god...star wars is dead'
Here is my feeling on why it failed:
1) the force is genetic? ARGHH lucas killed all the magic and reduced it to a virus
2) The lightsaber battles at the end SUCKED. Obi-wan fights,..zap zap oops its over. Anakin fights. Oh cool he has two lightsaber! Oh never mind the other saber got knocked out in 1 second. Well, at least the rest of the fight will be good. Zap zap. Oops..its over.. damn that was quick.
Then yoda comes in. And you KNOW it will be dope. This one lasts about 8 whole seconds. ooooooooh. Yoda looks like a friggin mexican jumping bean. I was so looking forward to this fight. It also sucked.
3) Poor Haydn Christophers lines were beyond cheesey. "My soul aches for you..im tortured by the kiss you should not have given me." His 'love' for her borders on dangerous obsession.
4) CGI scenes involving characters riding on top of animals looked so damn fake. They might as well have used claymation. The scene with luke riding a taun-taun in empire strikes back looks better than the scene in episode 2.
5) I think that 100% of the people who saw this movie will agree with the next one: C3P-O's one liners during the final battle were so god awful the entire theatre groaned. 'Oh what a drag!' as his head is being dragged by R2. 'I'm beside myself!' when his head is literally beside himself. This is somewhat inapropiate considering jedi are being slaughtered around him. Oh yeah dont forget 'Die jedi dogs!'
6) jango fett versus mace windoo. lasts about 1 second, and jango gets his head cut off like a dog. WTF?? There was NO good light saber battles.
7) Jar-Jar leads to the rise of the empire? WTF?
8) Is obi-wan really that stupid about the missing planet? "Hmm..the stars gravitational pull shows something there, but the map dosent show it.." Duh obi-wan..maybe it got erased? hmm?
9) R2-D2 can fly????????? Why the hell didnt he use that ability in the original trilogy? This is getting ridiculous.
10) bobba fett way overacted the 'i am evil' thing. He might as well have gone bWAHAHAHAHA and like rubbed his hands together while ligthning crackled and he kicks a puppy.
11) No space battle other than the jango versus obi wan thing that wasnt a fight as much as yet another chase.
Save your money and see spider man.
Save your money and see spider man
!!
Strange advice. Not saying Spiderman wasn't a good movie - it was quite good. But, even Phantom Menace was better.
the force is genetic
It always was - 'The force is strong in my family...my father, etc.' It can't be 'in the family' if it isn't genetic (in this context, at least).
The lightsaber battles at the end SUCKED
Matter of opinion. Wasn't as good a battle as episode 1, but still heads and tails about anything in the original trilogy.
Poor Haydn Christophers
You found Haydn's acting forced, and you recommend Spiderman? I mean, at least Haydn LOOKED hurt when his mother died. And he could LOOK filled with rage pretty good. Granted, *some* of his lines where cheesy, but that is Lucas fault more than anything.
CGI scenes involving characters
And you complain about the CGI in AoTC, and you didn't have a problem with the CGI in Spiderman? REALLY? You mean, you thought when Peter Parker was first jumping from building to building, it actually looked even marginally real? I'm sorry, but I've seen the Matrix, there is no excuse for how cheesy THAT looked...
I think that 100% of the people who saw this movie will agree with the next one
Not a bit more cheesy than any of his lines in the original trilogy. I mean, how many times can you say "We're doomed" and it still be funny? Or, "I never knew I had it in me"?
jango fett versus mace windoo
Jango = bounty hunter
Mace = most powerful Jedi next to Yoda
You do the math.
Jar-Jar leads to the rise of the empire
What, I loved that! Episode 1 was just foreshadowing this - he keeps screwing up and screwing up, but there was always a way to redeem each screwup. Now, if he makes the wrong decision, nothing can be done about it, so the inevitable occurs.
Is obi-wan really that stupid about the missing planet
Think more like Atlantis or something. A planet/place one person says exists, but shows up on no maps. Even if you could prove that it should be somewhere (as Obi-Wan did), you'd have trouble believing it, because we know EVERYTHING topographically about our planet, how could be miss an entire continent? Same deal with the Republic - they knew EVERYTHING about the Galaxy - how could a planet be missing?
Why the hell didnt he use that ability in the original trilogy
a) When would he have needed to?
b) Maybe something happens to him since then. We DO still have the entire clone wars to get through.
bobba fett way overacted the 'i am evil' thing
How could he over-act? He had, like, a half dozen lines he delivered completely deadpan. He just scowled a lot.
No space battle other than the jango versus obi wan
Like the epic space battle in 'Empire Strikes Back'?

oh xander....I have to reply
Poor Haydn Christophers lines....
ok, I understand that they were trying to set things up for when he turns evil, but how un-damn-believable could this so-called love story be? I mean, can you say RESTRAINING ORDER??? "I killed them all, not just the men, but the women (long dramatic pause) the children...." and the fiesty woman that he has been visibly creeping out for that last hour, who is a trained diplomat....hugs him?? Why didnt she recoil in horror? (My kids say its because that is the only time he used Jedi mind tricks...to make her fall in love with him).
You found Haydn's acting forced, and you recommend Spiderman? I mean, at least Haydn LOOKED hurt when his mother died. And.....the way the mother died...oh god that was so painful to watch.
The other thing that bothered me was the whole Darth Sidious thing. I'm sorry, but he even SOUNDED like Jon Lovitz.
This movie was bad bad bad. The best thing about it was being able to see more of Ewan McGregor. If you want to hear a funny commentary on it, watch the Daily Show's movie critic...he nailed it.
Spiderman was so so much better than this...at least it had a believable love story!!
How come if C3P-O was owned by lars owen and beru, when he came back to Tatooine in episdoe 4, why didn't they recognize him or he rocognize them. He could have been like 'Oh master Lars! It's been so long!'
That is a huge plot hole to me unless they somehow explain it. Maybe the droids will have their memory wiped sometime in episode 3.
the fiesty woman that he has been visibly creeping out for that last hour, who is a trained diplomat....hugs him
2 Things.
1) This is why I have a problem with Natalie's acting in the movie - she wasn't SUPPOSED to be 'creeping out' for the last hour - she was SUPPOSED to be 'trying not to fall madly in love'.
2) Supposedly, Lucas cut out the middle of the scene where Anakin gets all begging-for-forgiveness over the whole thing which causes Padme to feel pity for him. Dunno why. Maybe to show that Amidala, when it comes down to it, is not a sweet little innocent thing, but can feel sympathy for someone like Anakin?
whole Darth Sidious thing
Huh? He's the same guy that played the Emperor throughout the whole series??
Spiderman was so so much better than this...at least it had a believable love story
The only thing that saved Spiderman's love story was that Kirsten Dunst is a MUCH better actress than Natalie Portman. Haydn and Tobey acted on pretty much the same level.
Maybe the droids will have their memory wiped sometime in episode 3
I think that's assumed. We do, after all, have the ENTIRE clone wars to get through. As has been mentioned before, that, too, is the reason Lucas uses to explain why the universe is so much darker in the 2nd trilogy - the clone wars are to be massively devastating.

xander-
i love star wars, and am still trying to get myself to love ep2, but i have to agree with bboy for the most part...he nailed quite a few of the major flaws, imo.
Matter of opinion. Wasn't as good a battle as episode 1, but still heads and tails about anything in the original trilogy.youre right, its a matter of opinion, but i think some of the classic light saber battles still have to be up there (luke/vader), and obi-wan/anakin/count dooku was pretty dissapointing.
You found Haydn's acting forced, and you recommend Spiderman?i think haydn and portman were fine acting wise, but were really restrained with the absolutely horrible dialogue they were given. it made their performances look very forced, and yeah, its probably the fault of lucas.
And you complain about the CGI in AoTC, and you didn't have a problem with the CGI in Spiderman? REALLY?unless staw wars is suddenly supposed to look like a comic book, you cant make this comparison. the cgi in spiderman was intended to look comical, and i dont think lucas had this same intention with ep2. unfortunately, the cgi in ep2 did come off looking like a saturday morning cartoon much of the time, and this is probably due to the fact that 99% of the movie was cgi, which is completely unneccesary.
a) When would he have needed to?well, it certainly wouldve saved him the trouble of attempting to swim to shore on degobah and being swallowed by the swamp monster, wouldnt it?
b) Maybe something happens to him since then. We DO still have the entire clone wars to get through.maybe, but it sure seems to be a plot hole as of right now. why go back and reinvent new abilities for an existing character? it was simply for the amusement of the audience in my mind. i think lucas would have a hard time writing an explanation as to why he loses his jets, remaining otherwise in tact ability wise.....but maybe.
How could he over-act? He had, like, a half dozen lines he delivered completely deadpan. He just scowled a lot.he did over-act, and his part in the movie made me cringe. lines like "get him dad!, hahaha" just didnt fly with me, and he was further proof of why lucas needs to leave the child actors out of this saga. he had a half dozen lines, and they were a half dozen too many.
