LOL. I was always an underliner. I found that highlighters too often bled through to the other side of the page... which was like "overlapping highlighting"... come to think of it, I could have let the highlighter bleed through and study only half the lesson, but it would look like I studied the whole thing.

When Rutherford as the newly appointed 1919 kingpin of the FaDS splattered "-- Never die---" all over the world, he must have been talking about the so-called other sheep, the crowd, because the "anointed" will have to die, even in the GB rapture to come.

" -- lives would in some way be associated---" lives of the ANOINTED associated in overlapping generations?

They had to bring it up (the Generation thing) all last year because of the anniversary of 1914.

I was wondering what they would do with it after they got past the Centennial year when everyone expected so much talk about it.

I wouldnt be surprised if it fades away in to the dusty past as the chariot rolls on!

This is just personal theory, but weren't there some of the old-timers still on the GB when the generation revision was first presented? If so, maybe it was one of their ideas, and voted in out of regard for them. Now that they're dead, they want to ease it out, just not too obviously.

A quote from the article Page 16 Para 9

    Our expectations are
based, not on a naive readiness to be-
lieve anything, but on solid Scriptural
    evidence

I agree oppostate: the wording of that part of the sentence in the Insight book is brief and murky. What happened to the earlier expositions on the 1914 generation?

As the decades have kept passing with no end in sight, the literature has gone from a tone of brimming and dramatic confidence and definite predictive content to a vague and murky tone and waffle-filled content.

The clarity regarding the relationship of " that generation that will not pass away" to "the start of the time of end in 1914" has been replaced by tired bleatings about the nearness of the end. 1914 recedes into history, while the newly minted " overlapping generations" occupies an uncertain place on a dust-gathering shelf - a product with an uncertain shelf life.

Don't you love the way they use the internet. The physical, therefore unchangeable print material is disappearing and the online material gets edited and altered without fanfare or notice.

Nobody knows what they believe now.

These strongly held beliefs are subject to daily change and are therefore not beliefs at all.

I have just done a bit of research using the Aid book (1971Edition) and comparing with the printed version (1988 1st Edition). The article passed through from the Aid book to the Insight book largely intact but edited down and slightly simplified. Most of it is word for word. The offending sentence was in the 1988 edition.

The real change is that there was a further paragraph in both the Aid and Insight book linking it to the last days, wars, pestilences etc citing Matt 24, Mark13 and Luke 21. This had survived intact and unchanged from the Aid book but has now vanished. It has been edited out as if it never existed.

    Why?

Nice one mister slidey, it'd be great to see the side by side history of edited paragraphs.
