I hear there will be a special local needs outline provided by the branch this week. Does anyone have details? Will this be a regional thing only? its expected to be approximately 20 minutes long.

We NEED you to volunteer to build our new HQ. Even though we just sold off Brooklyn for hundreds of millions, and could easily hire a contractor to build our new Mecca.
We NEED you to waste 30 hours in FS in April, you know, Jesus dying and all....
We NEED you to shun the hell out of your family because they are sinners who are going to be slaughtered SOON.
We NEED you to drive 500 miles and spend hundreds on a hotel this summer, because we chose ridiculous venues for the DC this summer.

Don't they allocate 20 minutes every month in the Service Meeting for "local needs?" Is this now being directed by the central office?

Every once in a while they get a letter from the branch with an outline or something that's supposed to be discussed at a local needs part. It's probably going to be related to the memorial or the international conventions.

Local needs is usually only 10 minutes and is the topic is determined by the body of elders. This is a 20 minute part given by branch directive. It was not included as part of the service meeting schedule.

Without getting too specific, what is your general geographic region?
Is your congregatoin assigned to one of the international conventions?
There have been several regional "local needs" parts in recent weeks, reported on this board, in which there have been read long, chastising letters from the branch, berating JWs for not "appreciating the privilege" of driving hundeds of miles into crime-infested neighborhoods to pay for low-quality hotel rooms.
