So my doubting spiritually weak girlfriend talked to some spiritually strong Christians and decided we should breakup. She said she knows breaking up is probably a mistake, but she has a troubled conscience. She says she truly loves me, but I was causing her to doubt more and more.

Here is wher I need help. She believes the GB is inspired. Does anyone have articles where they state they are not inspired? (Blondie always has articles) My girlfriend also disagrees with the GB stance on college. Can anyone provide the article on what they said about the end coming before young ones could grow old or finish college? Finally with the ludicrous generation discussion looming this weekend can someone please provide the series of articles outlining generation teaching flip flops? I'll check jwfacts also.

Thanks. This may not work, but I'm really stressed. The guilt and fear phase of waking up has consumed my girlfriend and all her spiritually strong advisers told her to leave me. However, her father, brothers, roommate and close friends are non-jws. She would do much better than me in the "world." That's why I'm still an MS despite no longer believing. I need a safe place to land. I love her. Please send advice.

Hi kneehighmiah, Can you send an email to your GF's father, brothers, roommate and close friends asking them to ask your GF to watch Steve Hassan's video Strategic Interactive Approach explained 2003 (1:23:23) without your GF learning that you asked them?

Your best approach is to help educate your GF's non-JW family and friends to learn more about helping your GF to learn to critically think for herself and let your GF go. Focus more about implementing your plans to successfully fade from the WTBTS and hopefully getting more education/training to qualify for a well paying career. If your girl friend chooses you over the WTBTS, FANTASTIC!! Otherwise, you will find someone who you can love eventually and hopefully free from the WTBTS.

Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

    Robert

How about collecting some flip-flops from Question from Readers? Ask which article was inspired?

If she uses the "imperfect men" argument, they are no longer gods.

Hey that is a tough spot to be in... Sorry. Here is some info that could get you started, it should have all the references you need.

from this link on spirit directed:

"The Governing Body consists of a group of anointed Christian men These preside over the worldwide activities of Jehovah's Witnesses. They are not inspired by God and hence are not infallible, but they rely on God's infallible Word as the highest authority on earth." Jehovah's Witnesses - Unitedly Doing God's Will Worldwide p.26
"The brothers preparing these publications are not infallible. Their writings are not inspired as are those of Paul and the other Bible writers." Awake!1993 Mar 22 p.4

However, genuine anointed Christians do not demand special attention. They do not believe that their being of the anointed gives them special “insights,”

Thanks. This helps. I'll be writing her a letter. she won't listen to me so maybe she can read these references. im stressed but I may have to move on. It stinks but I know I may have to marry a non jw and my parents will not attend my wedding. So stupid. I was hoping to marry an unattached JW and then we leave together. Guess that might not work.

My girlfriend also disagrees with the GB stance on college. Can anyone provide the article on what they said about the end coming before young ones could grow old or finish college?

I thought I would post an excerpt from a featured article of the 1968 Awake! with the same title, IS IT LATER THAN YOU THINK?. The article begins on page 13 and purports to answer the question:

    What will the 1970's Bring? - g1968 10/8, p. 13- 14

The fact that fifty-four years of the period called the "last days" have already gone by is highly significant. It means that only a few years, at most, remain before the corrupt system of things dominating the earth is destroyed by God. How can we be so certain of this?

One ways is by noting what Jesus said when he gave his great prophecy about the "last days." After he listed the many events that would mark this period, he also stated, "Truly I say to you that this generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur." -- Matt. 24:34.

Jesus was obviously speaking about those who were old enough to witness with understanding what took place when "the last days" began. Jesus was saying that some of those persons who were alive at the appearance of the 'sign of the last days' would still be alive when God brought this system to its end.

Even if we presume that youngsters 15 years of age would be perceptive enough to realize the import of what happened in 1914, it would still make the youngest of "this generation" nearly 70 years old today. So the great majority of the generation to which Jesus was referring has already passed away in death. The remaining ones are approaching old age. And remember, Jesus said that the end of this wicked world would come before that generation passed away in death. This, of itself, tells us that the years left before the foretold end comes cannot be many. - Emphasis in original

Isn't it amazing! 44 years ago the WTBTS was "so certain" that "only a few years, at most, remain before the corrupt system of things dominating the earth is destroyed by God." The only thing that is "so certain" is that they were so certainly wrong!

If the youngest of "this generation" was nearly 70 years old in 1968 they would be nearly 115 years old today! There are only five or six people still alive on earth at this very moment that are that age. (See: List of the verified oldest people) This of course was one of the articles that led to the whole 1975 debacle. It seems that neither the leaders nor the majority of their followers have learned.

What does it matter what the Governing Body claims about themselves ?

And using a Watchtower to "prove" the doctirnes of the Watchtower, is like

using the Catholic Catechism to "prove" the Pope is the Vicar of Christ.

The core doctrine is false. The "faithful and discreet slave" mentioned in Matt 25

is two faithful servants, used as an example for all in how to conduct your individual

life and use what has been given to you. Not about creating a central authority.

I hope you are able to get your girlfriend to see TTATT.

If you can't, you're better off not marrying into the WT mess.
